Summing Mixer

I've been reading quite a bit about how the downside of DAW's (all of them) is their summing capabilities. i.e. using outboard to seperate the tracks can help improve sound quality ? I'm wondering whether it may be a good idea to get a 'summing mixer' of some kind where each track in Ableton is dire...

Ableton suddenly quits

This sudden quit happened to me last night when I was trying out a batch of free plugins. Ruby Tube rocks btw ! My VST directory is a series of 'shortcuts' to the 'real' directory elsewhere on my harddrive - as this enables me to organise them into groups (compressors etc etc) I had moved the 'Liqui...

Confirmation of version

Yeah I also downloaded all the latest versions from the web when I bought it a week or so ago. I've now uninstalled minimonsta in a fit of pique, just pissed off I had to re-write my tune without it. Oddity and polysix (yeah i know its korg) are my two favourite soft synths by a mile, so disappointe...

Liquid MIx chugging

Hi, I did have problems with Live 6 taking about 10 minutes to load, then being un-workably slow. The CPU meter didn't even light up - i.e. totally blank - v.odd This happened twice : when I had the sample rates wrong in my audio interface compared to live when I had the emulations installed incorre...

Liquid Mix problems

Just bought it. Have daisy chained off a TC Electronics Konnekt 24D via a 4 pin firewire port on a laptop running Windows XP2. Installed version 2 of software and after a couple of hiccups is now working OK. Problems eventually sorted by turning TC Electronics on and off (sounds easy but took me age...

cpu spiking

sorry just posted a new topic about this, before noticing this one (will cross reference) I have a modest 1.6 dual core laptop, which runs most soft synths OK (except hungry ones like Jupiter from Arturia) but can't get Minimonsta to behave unison or not. With unison on, it just won't run. With the ...

oh yeah and render to disk, alter 'master' option to 'all tracks', and you've streamed each of the tracks of the tune - very handy for passing a tune on for a remix

went through this post earlier today, and picked up several juicy titbits. One I didn't notice (i.e. probably missed) but which I remember working out and being glad about was :

Function Keys F1 through F8 mute and unmute their respective tracks. well handy for working out breakdowns etc.

Remote Sl

I've got the remote SL37, and its amazing. I had a slight problem with occassional midi notes hanging, but spoke to support, and they told me to alter the midi settings in global to : USBaTo: M1 USBbTo: OFF MIDITo: OFF Perhaps the problem was being caused by the fact that USBbTo was routed to both t...

Warping

The warping in 6 is amazing compared to how it used to be. I used to have to show Ableton the initial kick of every 4 bars virtually ! Import your audio. Ableton automatically works out the timing for you (providing the option is set in preferences - it is by default) Now you'll notice it isn't as t...

Yes, and you can also have a 1 bar sample have a 16 bar automation, etc. In the envelopes panel, there's a lit button that says linked . Hit it and the envelope now becomes unlinked from the clip's size and you can set it to loop over any period of time. You can even have diferent parameters automa...
