Re: Uh oh! Another rock band recording with Ableton!!!!

I agree with the comments above and am not qualified to be considered an expert, but I do have this question, based on what I'm learning: Re. the "hot" tracks. The mastering engineer needs more headroom to do his thing. So, are you applying the things he/she normally would (I know you said you didn'...

Re: Good VST for strings?

I like AAS String Studio for more-realistic.
I like AAS Ultra Analog VA-1 for those Juno-106-type synth strings.

Re: Glitch/Clicks/Pops when launching scenes

I don't have a solution, but am interested in the answer. I have had several times where a MIDI clip playing an Impulse instrument sounds weird on the first beat, the first time it's fired. After that, it sounds normal.

Re: Saying goodbye to a friend, Leedsquietman passed away.

Wow! I've been away too long and missed this. Leedsquietman was always so helpful, knowledgable, and patient. He love what he did and obviously had a heart for sharing it as well. I will miss him a ton. My prayers and sympathies to his family. [Oh, and I bought the album. Good job, Tarekith and the ...

Re: How do you automate record enable for synths in real time?

I'm interested in how to do the same thing. I tried sending Program Changes via clips, but must've been doing something wrong. I need to learn more about MIDI. Can someone describe in detail how they did it? Pleeeease. : )

Re: Is it possibe to play LIVE instruments in Windows via USB?

To be fair...I found last night (this thread got me thinking about it) that there is a new (since July) version of the asio4all driver. So, I've moved from 2.9 to 2.10 and it does seem to have helped quite a bit. We'll see this weekend during rehearsal if it's completely cured the lockups I was expe...

Re: Is it possibe to play LIVE instruments in Windows via USB?

I've been away for a while, so I'm late responding to this thread. I have the same issue you describe. My new Win7, i5, HP pavilion dv7 notebook seems to sometimes have more problems than my old XP laptop that was single core. I have Live 7. Wondering if there will be a retro fix for that version.

Sounds very nice. I'm enjoying it right now, while I work. Very listenable (that's NOT a good English word).

Re: Can you create stop points in songs in Live?

OK, I found it. Live calls what we're talking about "locators." Search the manual for that and you'll find how to set, label, and remove them. You can also MIDI map to them. It's on page 76 in my copy of the manual.

Re: Can you create stop points in songs in Live?

You could also stop it (without a touch) using Follow Actions. Then, restart with a MIDI trigger.

Re: Feel like testing your ears?

I tried, but got a message about needing a codec, which I think is odd, since I'm using a Windoze machine and it's a .wav file.
