Re: Quick reality check for somebody just getting started...

I do have Packs in "My Packs" -- but, for example, previously I had been using something called "Kit-BritishVintageLight(Funky)" -- and it seems I don't have that anymore -- and it's not really clear to me how to restore it. See what I mean? And I don't remember "Kit-BritishVintageLight(Funky)" seem...

Re: Quick reality check for somebody just getting started...

2) Not to sound rude but you should really check out the ton of tutorials available for this kind of question. A great video will explain it MUCH better than a short answer in a forum thread. Start with the tutorials included within Live (Help Menu) and here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL...

Quick reality check for somebody just getting started...

Hi all, I'm hoping to use Live as a sort of creative self-accompaniment/compositional tool. I've never used a DAW, so I'm in the "a bit overwhelmed" phase. I much appreciate any help/suggestions. Basically I'm hoping to make loops with a keyboard and/or guitar, layer up the sound, and alternate betw...

solger wrote:If you have Live already installed, the manual-file can be found under "\Docs" in the Live 9 Suite installation-folder. You can simply copy this .pdf to another location.

It's called 'User Manual English.pdf' (if you want the english version)
Perfect, thanks!

I give up! Where did they hide the Live 9 manual?

Can anybody point me to where I can download the Live 9 Suite manual?

Thanks!

Re: Where are session drums?

I THINK Ableton expands them to that 28 (or so) gigs. When I was all done installing all my packs, it was 50+. I was just adding up the numbers listed on Ableton's Pack listings -- meaning, if Session Drums is 28GB expanded, then wouldn't the others also be listed with expanded sizes? Apart from th...

Re: Where are session drums?

I'm confused by this too. If I go to "My Packs" I see "Session Drums" listed, but no "Download" button and no "Purchased {date}" -- I get "Download" buttons for most of the Packs, and "Purchased {date}" for the instruments that came with Suite (such as Amp, Analog, Collision, etc.) -- but "Session D...

would it be possible to license a "usual" live 9 version with an upgrade license? i guess not, right? well... i had the same problem. reinstalled the live 8 library, and there was drum machine and amp etc. in it. you could check if its install in your version. I do seem to have the Suite instrument...

Thanks. I assume you also installed via the '9 upgrade' -- Is it also the case that the Library starts off empty when people instal 9 for the first time? (meaning, not an upgrade install) eg: * brand new user installs 8, gets a 2GB Library by default. * brand new user installs 9, gets an empty Libra...

Oh no! I hope you did not delete any of your Ableton instrumet/effect presets. Don't delete your Live 8 library until you move those to your User Library of Live 9. However, IF you do not have any of your own presets, clips, etc in Live 8 then it should be no worry to just use the new Library and d...

Re: Was a n00b with 8, now a n00b with 9...

You're best probably re-downloading the packs. Are there not some in Place: Live 8 Library? Have you located that in Preferences? I uninstalled 8 before I installed 9 -- so the general premise now is that I start with an empty Library, and build it via the Packs page on the Ableton site? Thanks, so...

Hi all, I had just been getting started with 8, but it was then announced 9 would be coming soon -- so I figured I may as well wait and get started with 9 instead. I believe 8 installed something like 2GB in the Library folder, whereas 9 installed just about nothing. I see on the 9 download page it ...

Quick question about 64-bit...

Hi all, I've already read the 64-bit FAQ (https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/64bit-myths-facts/), but just wanted to clarify one thing. Mine is a 64-bit Win7 with 8GB RAM -- so I've got more than 4GB RAM, and a 64-bit OS -- but it's still advisable to install the 32-bit version of Live 9? (that wha...

Re: Is this possible with M4L?

Hi all, thanks -- I finally gave up and decided to record audio and video separately, and then sync them back together in an editor. It's too bad the camera doesn't let me turn off this dumb "feature" -- it would be much easier if I could simply do that -- but hopefully I can learn enough of the vid...
