Re: being accused of not being a "real DJ" with Ableton

I do respect those who have had the experience of beatmatching on vinyls in a crowded club with shitty monitors and all, but again as several other people have commented, if you can eliminate that element of risk/fucking up, why not do it? I believe you should take advantage of technology. the other...

being accused of not being a "real DJ" with Ableton

The other day I finished playing a dj set to a packed club, I got a huge response out of this crowd and was feeling generally really excellent. 2 hour set and I'm exhausted. As usual there are a few people interested in what's going on behind the decks and this one guy comes up to me to ask me about...

Live 8 is really unstable.

I just spent the last 6 hours on a track, saving RELIGIOUSLY, every couple of minutes. Ableton just crashed (it does so frequently, which is why I've become so save-wary). I think "no problem", since i've been saving so much, but lo and behold, when I open up my file (by the way, I never get any kin...

Re: Apple's iPad - Lemur killer?

One thing that I've experienced with TouchOSC is that the responsiveness is nowhere near that of a hard wired controller.... I don't know if this is due to the wi-fi connection, the TouchOSC app itself, or any other factor, but frequently when I move a slider with TouchOSC it takes half a second or ...

Re: Reducing a clip from 140 bpm to 90

Seems like halfing the bpm to 70 and then speeding up to 90 would be the best solution if you're not going to re-record... play with different warp modes and see which sounds best.

Live's audio output drops out w/ BCD3000

I was playing a gig the other night when in the middle of a track everything went silent. I got a spinning beach ball cursor and at the top right the CPU meter went red and was marked with "off". I went into Live's preferences and found that there was no audio output selected, I went into the drop d...

Re: Ableton is triggering loops off time

This happened to me a while ago and it turned out to be an issue with the "groove" setting -- bottom left of each clip. check that each one is set to "straight". Might want to try and see if it helps.

below every clip's "seg. bpm" parameter in the bottom left there are half and double tempo buttons. (:2, *2) Try those.

I can attest that the Alive shows are 90% Ableton.

Automating solo buttons

Hi, Is there any way to have Live record the solo button presses in the track automation? It doesn't seem to be an editable paramater. I need to be able to solo between 3 tracks very quickly using the keyboard and have it record that... I played with having the buttons mute all the other tracks but ...

THe mixing is quite good. Not my kind of music, but the mixing is very good. Is the around the world/hbfs daft punk from the coachella set? I've actually recreated most of the Alive 07 set which I can drop in my sets with complete control over the individual tracks and what not. If you're interested...

When you double click a sample and the waveform is visible at the bottom and the sample info is at bottom left, there is a paramater labelled "Seg. BPM". You can set this to whatever you like and Live will adjust the file to exactly this number for the BPM. edit: just read your other post which says...

Without using any kind of utility, if you set your finder view to column and click on an audio file, a mini quicktime player will show up in the finder itself where you can preview the audio file. I use this all the time.
