Re: Live 9 looks great and Push is a no brainer!

Would be great to get an official Ableton take about Push's synchronization with Rewire (and even VST) devices.

On another note....I wonder if Push will render my midi keyboard obsolete....the scale functionality may be all I'll ever really need for melodies...

Re: Live 9 looks great and Push is a no brainer!

I wonder how Push will work with rewired/external instrument devices (ie, Reason). I realize things like the file browser probably won't be sync'd up with Reason, but it would be great to be able to control and automate device and effects parameters (including swing and etc) directly from Push to R...

Care to share a link to that Max4Live device? I'm very interested.

Re: Akai MPD18

I used to have the MPD26 but then switched to the korg padkontrol...I'd recommend the padkontrol for sure. Its pads have a much softer/more responsive feel, plus it has an X-Y interace. The padkontrol also comes with software that makes it easy to customize the MIDI data that's sent by each pad (so ...

Re: Determining the BPM of your overall project? How to?

1) play along with a metronome; or
2) play, bob your head to what you're playing, and use tap tempo according to your head bobs

Re: How Do You Setup Your Drums?

I am starting to get into drum racks after really falling in love with using Kong with Reason rewired to Live. I was using Giest for a while also and am considering grabbing Maschine because its library seems intersting well maschine does too but really its library is a turn on maybe even the mpc r...

Piano chord progressions

Having just gotten into this whole producing thing, I'm also trying to learn some keyboard/piano. So I've been teaching myself to do basic chord progressions. All I know thus far is your basic I-IV-V on the major/minor scales. For all you beginners out there like me, I've come up with a handy little...

Re: ableton 8.3.3 and reason 6.5.1 rewire ?

No need for a separate installation of reason. Just find the reason application in Finder...right click on it and go to "Get Info". Then check the box that says "Open in 32 bit mode".

I'd recommend you just use the Ableton 8.4 beta and take advantage of 64 bit rewire power though...

Re: Beginners Advice - What Equipment Do I Need?

The 600ohm version, which gives you the highest quality, has a large amount of electrical impedance, requiring additional power to give the same level of output. As far as I understand it, more ohm's = higher quality = more electrical impedance = more external power (amping)required. The e7/e9 combo...

Re: Beginners Advice - What Equipment Do I Need?

If big speakers aren't practical for you, I'd turn to a nice pair of studio headphones. As a suggestion, I am very pleased with the DT990 pro 600ohm that I have...they are powerful, bassy, accurate, comfortable, and relatively affordable at ~$300(http://www.amazon.com/Beyer-Dynamic-Premium-600-Headp...

Re: Split midi chord so each note plays different chain/sample?

you can accomplish this quite easily by rewiring reason into ableton. a combinator can layer an infinite number of synths in no time at all. but i take it you wouldn't be asking this question if you were trying to do this via reason.

sweet deal! it works now! thank you so much. i guess that the touchable server didn't recognize the beta since it is a wholly different application.

guess this thread can be closed now, admins.

TouchAble does not work with beta

The newest version of the Ableton 8.4 beta does not work with Touchable (iPad app). Live recognizes Touchable within Preferences but it cannot be selected as a control surface. Big time bummer. I hope this gets fixed on Ableton's end, as the development team at Touchable does not release frequent so...
