Re: Filtering and mapping midi channels in M4L

Yes, I think using send/receive is the only "solution" in your case. But keep in mind that it doesn't ensure accurate timing. Yeah I do detect the disappointing smell of latency when I play. Of course this is midi guitar so there is always a touch of latency. It's one of those things you can go com...

Re: Filtering and mapping midi channels in M4L

Thanks all for the replies. My workaround was to create a new channel to receive ch 6 and then use M4L midi send on the new channel and a receive object that I put in the chain for the specific instrument. I was thinking for a minute I could do what broc had suggested above, but I think that would s...

Filtering and mapping midi channels in M4L

I'm trying to create a filter or router for midi channels in an instrument chain, e.g. I have a midi guitar that sends each string on a different channel 1-6. I want to be able to filter out different channels and maybe send them to different midisend objects. I tried using the midiselector object t...

Re: Settings don't save- is this a bug?

Strange. I've just tried your patch and saving presets seems to work here. Are the current settings recalled if you save, close and re-open the Live set? Weird, I wonder if it is because I am using it in a chain. Not sure if it was ever tested this way. I'm going to try the device as a stand-alone ...

Re: Settings don't save- is this a bug?

As far as I can tell, Live simply doesn't save any changes to the settings in the preset. I have six different presets for one device and they all load the default settings for the device.

Re: Settings don't save- is this a bug?

Did you save the settings as a Live Device Preset? Yeah, I tried this many different ways, tried rebuilding the device from scratch. I also thought maybe if I saved the chain as a new device, the settings would save as well. Doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm really frustrated about this. As if...

Settings don't save- is this a bug?

I created this relatively simple transposer from the live lessons- seems to work fine but when I quit and save, even when I've saved the settings for the device- it goes back to the default. I'm wondering if this is because I'm running it in a chain? Has anyone experienced anything like this? Here i...

Re: How to make the chain selector activate one device at a time

Just gotta say a HUGE thanks to all everyone in this thread for solving an issue that I never in a million years (ok, slight exaggeration) would have figured out myself. My hardware harmonizer recently died and I am trying to make the switch to all VSTs, but the pitch tracking was blowing up my memo...

Re: beatboxing + turkish strings + darbuka solo

Ok, I agree that the bass/mix was a bit on the muddy side. I am no engineering whiz, but I have had good luck with "notching", i.e., making sure that every instrument has a different frequency accent so they are not competing too much in the mix. I have never seen a belly dancer pop and lock (and no...

Pretty cool. Are you using Midi guitar? One thing I would suggest is if you stand up for your performance, you should stand up when you rehearse. Then again maybe you perform sitting down..

Re: Sharing/Haaaalp- M4L Smart Harmonizer

Well, one thing that comes immediately to mind in terms of CPU usage would be whether or not you actually *need* the 2048 window for all those FFTs. Have you tried any of those other powers of 2? Similarly, precisely how accurate does your pitch detection need to be? There are some other third-part...

Re: Sharing/Haaaalp- M4L Smart Harmonizer

So I finally came back to this now that my hardware harmonizer completely shat the bed after a recent gig. The one thing that is bothering me is the latency. Even when I create a simple transposer and take it an octave down, the latency is ridiculous. Does anyone know of a way to create harmonies an...

Re: MLR-style session view clip-chopping with monome and M4L

Is anyone working on a dumbed-down version that could learn midi, eg, from a nano-pad or something? I took a look at this, but I can't for the life of me figure out how this thing is telling the clip where to launch. Maybe it's just too damn late at night. :|
