Re: numbers appearing in front of midi devices in preferences

ok, here's a simple test you can try: install a midi device on your computer. add a USB hub (preferably for the first time, so that it will add a driver for it) and plug the device to it. the device should have a different name in the preferences (a prefix number is added) and hence is not recognize...

Re: min/max tempo

min/max tempo is useful when you midi-map the tempo: it constraints the values that you can reach. my idea is that i'd like to make a clip that will automate tempo changes, so i need to retrieve the min and max tempo, so that 100% modulation will be max tempo, and 0% will be min tempo. but i guess i...

create this patch, it's a simple box that controls the tempo (midi device). <pre><code> ----------begin_max5_patcher---------- 815.3oc4X9saZCCEF+ZpTeGhx0LTrSBIr61dMppPFxAvsI1Q1FFcU6ce1N+g .MoPSo.SSpkjZ6iym+4y4Cm9582MvcFeKHcc9tyCNCF7ptkA11LsLnpgAtYj sySIR6.cSoafQr0YlgMrb.aHBFICNr+GPOVOD9ZUJnTujCEONW2...

Re: button behaviour changes when keymapped

actually, i've just remembered that clips can be "gated", and they behave as axpected when keymapped: they're on when the key is down and off when it's released.
so it's a bug.

[c74] button behaviour changes when keymapped

i've put a "live button" in a device.
when i click it, it acts as a gate (red on mouse down, grey on mouse up). but when i key-map it, it toggles.

i can't think of any gate button in live, so i'm not sure it's a bug. but i find it weird.

where does print print?

from what i understand, "print" should display messages in the max window.
but since there's no max window when using with Live, where do the messages appear?
and what shall i use to monitor messages in a Max device?

thanks for the noob help!

Re: Main functions/objects

thanks all for your answsers. i started the tutorials, that i find very well done and easy to understand. the thing is that as soon as i start reading them, i tend to open the subpatches, the help files for each device, try to understand what each box does. so i thought it would be useful to know wh...

Main functions/objects

Another noob question.
Long-time Max users, could you state the objects/functions/whatever that you think you most commonly use when you build patches?
Maybe a list of the first 5 that come to your mind would be helpfull for us noobs.
Thanks
