Re: 32 or 64 bit version of Live 9 Suite?

64 all the way. I have one 32 bit plug...I no longer use it, though I liked it back in it's day. I haven't looked but I imagine that all mainstream plug manufacturers have converted and offer both 32 & 64 bit. The real question, to me, is why hasn't VST3 become more prevalent. The other thing to con...

Re: 9.5 suite versus standard incompatibility

The incompatibility is with live 9.5: I saved a project with Live suite 9.2.3, and tried to open it in Live Standard 9.5 and it didn't work. Saving and exporting was disabled. I was responding to your OP where you say: ...what happens is the projects do not open properly in live 9 standard ... Hope...

Re: 9.5 suite versus standard incompatibility

IIRC Ableton has stated that 9.5 projects are not compatible with 9.0. I believe that Suite or Standard has no bearing, it is a 9 vs 9.5 issue. Why not upgrade the second computer to 9.5 (whatever version of Live you have, i.e. Standard or Suite). This compatibility is also why the first time you sa...

Browser Categories Missing

Was in a session doing some testing with Analog. At one point I wanted to drop in a reverb and discovered that at that point all of the "Categories" (Sounds, Drums, Instruments, Audio Effects, etc) are suddenly missing their contents except the Plug-Ins which still show up. "Places" are fine. This o...

Re: Live 8 compatability with 'El Capitan'

You might want to consider an increase in RAM and if the OS supports it an SSD drive.

Re: Jazz guitar sound

I play a lot of guitar and while I don't consider myself a jazz guitarist I am aware of tone the OP is speaking of. I would recommend a really good pre-amp (with a Hi-Z input) my current fave that I use is a Great River MP-2NV but there are others that are a lot less pricey (check out Radials line o...

Re: Live 9.5 crashes/issues

Another DAW that recently released an update had a lot of problems for users who needed to have an iLok. The temporary solution was to run in compatibility mode. This required updates from several plug-in developers (Soundtoys is one that comes to mind) in addition to the iLok developer (Pace?). I w...

Re: Replika 1.22 and Ableton 9.2.3 64bits- Possible Workaround?

I use Replika 1.2.1 and it works a charm. IIRC there were documented issues with 1.2.2 (don't recall what they were). I was on Live 9.2.2 up until this morning but the upgrade didn't hurt my installation or use of Replika. I think NI still has a D/L of 1.2.1. Hope you get it figured, as someone ment...

Re: Downgrading from Live 9 Suite to Live 9 Standard?

IIRC if you wait until an upgrade cycle you can upgrade to a lessor version. I know some DAWs will license in this way. So you save some money on the upgrade cycle.

Re: Pros & cons of playing an instrument and knowing theory

To make my point about basic music theory, I was listening to a track by Gaia and they were going through the cycle of 5ths. They clearly understood that simple music concept. They still have to master Ableton and all the different sonic possibilities, but from a song structure point of view, they ...

OK...I am probably one of the oldest cats on this site at a young 53. Yea well at 65 I've got you beat...not that it matters. Had a mini-stroke a few years back that required me relearning a few things. Regarding the 'learning' thing. I've always been of a mind that any time spent doing anything th...
