Re: Ableton Melody technique's

whistling is the best method for writing melodies and now with Live 9 you can convert that to midi  yay! for audio to midi Not a bad shout to be honest. I have been using the feature a bit since I got the beta and, more often than not, it has helped me get a part sorted. Like others have said,...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

I've been having similar thoughts, although, reading through the 9 manual, it looks like it does cover everything pretty well. The whole not being able to step sequence with a synth thing, I found to be a bit of a surprise. That would be ace. But like others have said I'd assume a lot of cool stuff...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

Damnit, my local music shop just hiked the price up. I thought £399 was too good to be true :D With similar development then I could see Push being insane in 3 or 4 years time. Its that potential that I can't shake myself free of and always has me thinking about a Push purchase. This is exactly my ...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

One of the questions I have about Push is, will there be firmware upgrades in future, and features added as time goes on? I'd be amazed if there wasn't. Push is being, well, pushed on to Live owners as the main tool for Ableton. In many ways it seems very much a direct take on Maschine (though with...

Re: Live 9 Pricing

Even still, I think you should do the sums and double check what Live 8 Suite (boxed) now + Push later would cost vs Abletons Live 8 Suite (download) + Push preorder. At a guess, Id think it would come in at about 900 euros or so but I havent taken a look.

Re: Live 9 Pricing

Definitely. Especially when music retailers often have 20% off coupons or $xx off of $xxx deals. Fr instance, I just bought live 8 suite boxed upgrade with free Live 9 suite for less than Abelton's download live 8 suite price. if Push is around $599 in stores, you'll be able to score it for $479. D...

Re: Live 9 Pricing

2. Buy live 9 and push together as new user, I want suite so seems to fine in at 999 euro. My problem with this route is that you will almost certainly end up stung when comparing with online/shop prices (usually discounted down a notch). When I was making the big step up in music gear/software bac...

Re: New laptop for Ableton?

I would go with Windows 8. Because you get updates longer and i read some tests where the reviewer had better results on a windows 8 PC. On a laptop i would recommend an i7 processor. Be careful with what i7 you go for. Not all are quad core but then you might not feel that you need it. I recently ...

Re: March the 5th!!!!!!!!!!

Just noticed DV247.com have increased the price of Push from £399 to £429. I guess there is still some scope for change until officially released but Push, in my opinion, isn't worthy of a price tag great than £400. So, I'm out! (for now...)

Re: March the 5th!!!!!!!!!!

how much is push alone? (cant see it) on thomann its 489 euro and 28.03.2013 I'd be surprised if it is more than £400. Even at that price it seems a little on the steep side so to charge a little higher (based on euro exchange rate) would absolutely kill Push off for me. I suspect you'll find out a...

Re: Recording electric guitar into live

CAnt say what would be the best cheap option but there are a load of cheapish audio interfaces to use with your computer which will get your recordings in via USB. As for software, if you have Live, take advantage of its effects. You can do some excellent stuff with it for guitar recording - I use i...

Re: Ableton Newbie Considering Buying Suite 8 / Upgrade to 9

Folk like to whinge! There are many very happy with the 9 beta and its been very stable for me. Stuff like Bitwig could very well turn out to be excellent but it wont end up being some Ableton killer that will wipe the floor with Live. I would say got for it. But, before you splash the cash do weigh...

Re: Ableton Newbie Considering Buying Suite 8 / Upgrade to 9

I love Maschine. I've been writing music for about 15 years. Nothing serious at all, more just a hobby but one that I hadnt enjoyed for some time and struggled to get back in to. I spotted Maschine on sale and got a MkI for £330 and overnight everything changed. I've been writing regularly, much of ...

Re: Ableton Newbie Considering Buying Suite 8 / Upgrade to 9

I bought Maschine in September rekindling the whole music thing and, when Live 9 was announced pounced on Live 8 Suite with the free upgrade. I am currently on the beta for 9. So, sort of in a similar boat. There are people far more qualified to give an opinion on whats great or shabby about 9 but t...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

What I shouldve added is the one thing that video did do is make me want a MKII! I was never sold on the coloured pads before but for controlling Live it would be pretty handy! Also, keep the Mikro in mind. You lose some knobs but if you arent super hands on it could save you £/$'s. As will the seco...
