Re: Convolution Reverb

Installing latest version of Quicktime didn't fix my issue (didn't think it would)... Also obviously Live ver. 9.0.2 didn't fix the issue either... Has anyone figured this out yet? My issue seems to be restricted to the Convolution Reverb (Pro), as any other M4L devices I've tired load without any i...

Re: Convolution Reverb

You're not the only one... I made a post about this two weeks ago. Sent a ticket to support and it was suggested that the issue might have to do with some known issue with Quicktime. Although I haven't had the time to get to the studio and see if updating Quicktime works (and to be honest, I'm not s...

Convolution Reverb Crashing Live EVERYTIME!

I'm rather frustrated. One of the major reasons why I purchased Live 9 suite was for the Convolution Reverb, and currently every time I try to load it in any capacity Live immediately crashes. System specs: AMD FX 6100 3.3GHz 16GB RAM Windows 7 Professional 64bit Live 9 64bit (not interested in 32bi...

Re: Ableton Live 9 Suite Student price :(

I bought the student license during the sale... I'm not sure why you didn't pick up on the fact that the student pricing for live 8 was discounted as part of the Live 9 pre-release sale. However with that said, I should mention that I did ensure I was making the right choice buying when I did by ema...

Re: Who has dared to follow their Ableton passion?

I work with governments in very conservative places, on projects involving their schools and young people, and I owe it to the people who are paying me to be the kind of person everyone feels comfortable with. Hey, stick with the job and insert subliminal messages in your music. You are ideally pla...

Re: Who has dared to follow their Ableton passion?

Re: Who has dared to follow their Ableton passion?

Although I'm a dozen years younger than you are, I recently made a similar transition. My solution hasn't been to dive head first into making a career out of music (as some of my kid-less friends have done), but rather getting a degree (and hopefully a career) that will position me to be on the tech...

This site will be helpful to anyone wanting to see proper comparisons between the different SRC options available... http://src.infinitewave.ca/ It is worth everyone noting that Voxengo R8brain free out performs many of the SRCs in DAWs and other paid-for options, of course it's not realtime, but tr...

Re: What does ableton do when I playback higher sample rates at:

Do some research on what Dithering is and why its used. The concepts apply to all digital audio and help explain what is happening (but be warned it's kind of a tricky area to understand. I don't mean to sound rude, but I would highly advise you follow your own advice. Dithering has absolutely noth...

Re: Storing samples on NAS drive

I was in a similar situation, although I had my VSTi sample libraries (Komplete Ultimate, BFD, etc) on an external drive and hated having to cart it around and it using up a USB port. My solution was to replace the DVD super drive with another internal HDD, it works perfectly, and I would go as far ...

Will installing Live 9 (non-beta) overwrite 8?

I'm in the process of doing a clean Win7 64bit install, and am curious if Live 9 will overwrite any previous installs of Live? The reason I'm asking is that as a new Live user, I'm hoping to set up a 'pure' 64-bit system, and with using an SSD for my system drive I would like to minimize the number ...

Re: bi-directional midi controller

Perhaps you might be referring to something else entirely, but currently all of my controllers that I use with Live have a bi-directional connection. I'm using Maschine, an Avid Artist Control, and an iPad (TouchOSC/Lemur/V-Control etc). In every case when things are set up properly, my control surf...

Re: How close can you get to running 1 instance on two computers

After thinking about this some more, If you were to use a MIDI interface such as a MOTU MIDI Express XT, with the appropriate setting up of presets you should be able to create a system that allows you to switch which Laptop running Live acts as Master with a couple of MIDI mapped buttons (and if I ...

Re: How close can you get to running 1 instance on two computers

Why not just run the two computers independently, and run each of your master outs into a mixer? As for MIDI sync, perhaps a try a combination of using tap tempo (without MIDI sync) and switching MIDI sync masters. Alternatively an external midi clock that acts as the MIDI sync master might be worth...

Re: Why is WINDOWS way better than OSX for Music Software?

With Windows, compatibility between versions is almost never a problem. I think people update for the latest features, and sometimes more efficient use of their OS and hardware. Plus, if you should happen to get a new gizmo, chances are the latest driver support will be for the newer OSs. Perhaps t...
