2013 rMBP 2.6GHz crashing...?!

Anyone experiencing system crashes with Mavericks? Not Ableton crashes, but system shutdown/reboot. I was having problems launching VSTs "wrapped" by AutoCrap but have since deleted AM and sticking to mapping myself. Last night was a new beast. I'm guessing it was a heat issue, tho I'm unsure. After...

Re: Sample library on a Mac....

@ renfield- yea. Looks like I'll just be leaving all the files where they're at. Seems like a waste of resources. I'll have to read more in depth later. @ ansolas- yah. That's the group there. Same catogorization. "00clap.wav" etc... It just doesn't make much sense to me. I thought iTunes and the ac...

Re: Sample library on a Mac....

I read that and it's really not the solution. I agree with your idea of it filing it for me. I'll dig around with the filing setup and see what's up as I'm still noobin' it up on Mac. Thanks tho.
If anyone else has any input, please fire away.

Sample library on a Mac....

Finally made the switcheroo from PC to Mac and I regret not doing it sooner. I transfered most of my sample library and came across a quandary about the filing system of OS X. I do my best at keeping all my shit nice and tidy, all samples are named and filed in individual folders. No probs there. Bu...

Re: Soft synths?????

M4L is cool and there are many devices for it but unless you're gunna dig under the hood I wouldn't spend the extra coin. There are cooler fx plugins to be had.

Re: Live 8 on a 13" retina display (pictures)

Yah, other than slight pixelation of the text I fail to see what the fuss is all about? I'm willing to trade you my 4 year old Sony VAIO and I'll even pay shipping on both ends. 2.0GHz, 4GBRAM, awesome display you won't have to worry about and can focus more on making music. That will save me $3000 ...

Re: New Macbook, which version of Ableton

Awesome. I'm glad to hear it has been pain free for you.
I've read that Apple fixes whatever issue was wrong, replaces the batteries as well as the aluminum shell. So esentially they are brand new.
I feel exactly the same way. I have only two projects I'll be taking with me but gigs of samples.

Oh, and I don't know if anyone mentioned this earlier as I'm too lazy to scroll up, but try to find a LaunchPad on the cheap and implement LaunchPad95 script and see if that workflow is for you before buying Push. I did and I'm very glad I did. Saved me several hundred bux.

Re: New to Live and interested in Push. In need of some advice.

Just my thoughts, but check out a few key books before spending a mountain of cash. Unless you have a trust fund. In that case, go to SAE. Music Theory For Computer Musicans is a good starting point. Synth Cookbook is a must read for learning how to make cool patches. Check out Groove3 too. I was ne...

Re: New Macbook, which version of Ableton

How are you liking the ole switcheroo? I'm buying a rMBP as soon as I get my income tax refund. And like you, I'll likely go with a refurb. The thought of dishing out $3,200 for a new one kinda hurts my butt to think about. I've been running 64bit everthing on this el cheapo VAIO, 2GHz 4GB RAM machi...

Re: Recommended good quality midi keyboard for Live

My better half bought me the Impulse 49 for Christmas. I love it. Very dope and I highly recommend it.
I've had better luck with AutoMap on my Nocturn than the Impulse tho. Nothing a little midi mapping won't cure tho.
