I would bet, with the VSTi's/AUs you will be using, I'd go with Processor Power. Apple announced a new liquid-cooled Dual Processor today that uses DDR 400 mHz RAM. The new RAM is a BIT pricier, and since the busses are faster, the HDs can stream audio faster, so you won't need as much RAM for AUDI...

Re: Whelp...

Personally I think you'll end up using both much like others here... been using live since v1 and sonar since v2... and all I can say is that they both take totally different approaches to music creation. Very different... although the features are similar(audio and midi) but Live 4 is far quicker ...

i guess my point is this, a good producer should b able to construct their own sounds and loops from scratch but also have the ability and the ear to be able to incorperate a great musical moment into the music as well, when its appropriate. if a sampled loop is the right ingredient your looking fo...

Re: when live will work more than 30-35 minutes under Win XP

As marked on the subject, it's really really annoying to have to close Live then open a new session to work with... When this feature will be take off? Live 3.04 Win XP 1GO of ram creamware audiocard 100 go+80 GO HD radeon 9200Se Your set up is almost identical to mine...no problems here. Have you ...

Ak, I would like to know if it is the same problem than the one I have: If you re-start the laptop and re-open the session as it was before, does it occurs again since the re-start of Live, or do you have to wait a certain amount of time before it happens again? Did you notice that when you move th...

Spot on...this caught me out initially but hat is right.

No, the loops that I was working with were 1 bar 2 bar loops. both even.
Live just didn't seem to be slicing them right on the transients but way before or after. Resulting in incorrectly timed loops.

Maybe Live 4 will fix this.

A reboot and the conection to cubase maybe setted it up. Now i can switch reason as input in live.
Now, i wait for live 4, then bye bye Cubase....

Re: Ableton's own compression format.

I saw the mp3 thread and thought of the following idea. Why doesn't ableton design its own sound format with a high compression or something in that direction. They could design they're own converters as well. Maybe then they can get rid of the ughe wav files problem. 8) Sounds like a good idea.

I must say I hope for less cpu usage as well. One instance of Ozone knocks Live 3 to almost 50% on a 2.8ghz machine with 1gb of ram. Two instances are simply not possible. :?

Actually I think this would be Propellerheads Smartest Move ... 1)Keep it a closed platform with rewire for those that need it but..... also make any rack device removeable and useable as a single vsti in a given audio app. Lets face it having Redrum ,NNXT ,RV7000 and Maelstrom in either Reason sta...

I just wished i could use the reason instruments like vstis in live.... yep, unless Props get over their stubborn refusal to be compatible with anything other than rewire slave, and not take audio in, I can't see me using it again - unless v3 proves otherwise Well Propellerhead better move fast. If...
