I know about a certain release where the record label had to dump 200.000 freshly printed copies only because the producer had not listed used samples correctly and one rightsholder just wouldn't permit use of a that clip. For smaller releases it seems to be less usual to go through the sample clea...

Re: Live 4 with Logic Pro 6
IS THERE ANY REASON FOR ME TO KEEP LOGIC PRO 6>> Live can be Rewired -> Logic just like Reason. Everything you do in Live will stay in sync with Logic and when Live 4 comes out you can use Live's midi sequencer for Live stuff and Logic's sequencer for Logic stuff and they will stayed synchronized. ...

Re: Any Sonar converts here??
hello all, I haven't bought Live yet so I guess I'm a prenoob. :P Just wondering if anyone here can tell me why they dropped sonar for Live. I'm thinking seriously about making the move. I've been using Sonar since it was called cakewalk 3.0 !! I guess the real question is; Has the streamlined appr...

Yes this is correct You can only render with effects in those two ways - but really, recording the master out, isn't this the same as rendering? It may not be offline, but its still doing exactly the same thing. regards porpy But is odd. I do not know of any sequencer that does not allow for a trac...

Re: How often do you defragment your HD?
I set Norton System works to defragment every night. Just my preference.Benshik wrote:My PB 667 got significantly faster after I defragmented it's 30 GB hd.
How often should I do it to maintain the performance? Every month, year, week?
thanx

There's either non-realtime rendering (select a time span in the arrange view, hit cmd + R) or recording from the master outs. As I understand, in Live4 you'll be able to buss several tracks on to another and record from those as if they were inputs. Nice touch. -Paws Thanks for the feedback, are y...

No internal render in Live (Track bounce) in Live?
This may have a very obvious answer but can Live 3 not allow for a Track with fx on it... lets say track 1 to bounce the track with fx (to free up cpu resources) to track 2 without rendering externally first? An internal bouncing of tracks is what I mean, is this not possible. Must all tracks be ren...

I will use absolutely anything. Samples cds, people walking in the street, cupboards closing absolutley anything. Its not a problem. I like to play the musical universe and let my free expression come forth and not be inhibted by mental constraints and other peoples worries. Agreed you have to go w...

I tend to usa sample CDs as less as possible. Sometimes a nice pre-made loop can add some punch to a track, but it's less satisfying working with other ppl's loops. I often start trowing a couple of drum loops just to have the groove to layer sound over them, and then I replace the pre-made loops w...

Do you use sample cds or record all your own stuff (or both)
Hi, just wondered if any one here uses sample cd's and loops exclusively or mixed with their own recorded stuff commercially or otherwise?
Live 3 seems ideal for sample cd usage.
Thanks

It is probably the next step although I imagine Ableton's publishers / developers are not too keen to enter VSTi territory because of comparisons to Cubase and Sonar talk less of Logic! It has a niche in Music Software now, add VSTi support and immediate comparisons will be made with every other ste...
