Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator

More than two states are very much possible in max. I've discussed a few ways of accomplishing that in this thread (in regards to velocity). But, here: http://youtu.be/wcETXU85A80 Don't assume because people aren't using advanced techniques that there aren't any! Note, however, that controlling more...

Re: M4L Devices forward compatibility - Live8 users left behind?

There are a few new objects in max 6 that don't exist in 5. And also a few objects that behave differently. Avoid those, or acknowledge that you're primarily building devices for yourself and use whatever tools work for you. Really, the big thing is not uninstalling Live 8. Keep that running, config...

Re: Push developer kit: M4L devices for Push!

I knew already about your posted code, but I don't want to use it. It takes about 1-3 seconds to get the ID, which would slow down the loading time of Push m4l devices. I rather prefer to update the component id manually for a faster loading time (I don't think that Ableton is changing the the comp...

Re: Sysex and Live 9 – is it now possible?

https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=193744 That isn't sending SysEx through Live's MIDI ports. The thread advises using externals to forward messages from max for live to the max runtime, whose MIDI ports are not impeded by Ableton's filters. ...which has always been the prescribed worka...

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator

The iOS-Idea is great, i will try to Control this device via air Display tomorrow. Good Idea, because drawing with the mouse is really Hard After a while.. I can already tell I'm going to regret saying this, but a TouchOSC interface will feel better under your hands. Charlie Roberts' "Control" is a...

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator

The presets shouldn't have conflicted, so long as they weren't wired to the same things. That is weird.

What you had there should have worked, with the one unfortunate issue that you'd have to load three files instead of one.

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator

Re: screenshot, I know, right? Retina display is a good explanation; that might well be it. I had the same problem uploading my screenshot for maxforlive.com -- no idea why it's so big. But I already had to take mine into a photoshop (they only accept JPG, and this was a PNG), so I scaled it down ag...

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator

I sent you the patch in your pm. now i have the next idea  . I would like to store presets for each grid. i don´t have an idea, but this would give so much options just with one preset.maxpresets file... Any idea? Well, the way you're implementing presets now (which is kind of a mess visually,...

Re: Midi map as a midi keyboard?

Max for Live is totally doable. The only trick is making the interface manageable. (you don't want 64 "map" buttons for the grid section taking up real estate) (but if you wanted the painful workaround, I can build you something for the Max Runtime that would create those ports and forward messages ...

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator

do you mean, that you can "draw" the pattern via monome? That's the plan. ..and then, once things are more tactile, there's some more advanced functions we can add which don't make a lot of sense with just mouse and keyboard. Wow, a monome(or push) controlled device like that would be the killer ap...

Re: Midi map as a midi keyboard?

There's a workaround w/ LoopHe or MIDI Yoke or the like. * create an empty MIDI clip * set its input to Push * set monitoring to 'on' * set its output to a virtual MIDI cable * route that signal outside of Live, and back in on a different MIDI cable * map the incoming signal Of course, it's not 100%...

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator

Thanks for the quick reply. To implement additional steps I already figured out. My main goal is to store AND SAVE presets Definitely. Here's the challenge: When you change the number of beats in a pattern, the matrixctrl object doesn't know what to do with what you've given it, and I think they're...

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator

Actually, part of that was only half true.

Adding more steps than 32 is remarkably easy in the version you have access to. Not so much in the version I'm experimenting with offline. ;)

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator

Additional steps = remarkably easy. Widen the grids, and edit the int boxes to support higher numbers. How many do you want? Additional rows per grid... that's a little more complex, but ultimately doable. But Catanya only has 3, and the request in this thread only asked for 4. How many are you afte...
