Re: New Mac(book) - need your recommendations

I have 15" mid 2012 8 gb (upgraded to 16), 2.6 GHz i7. removed cd and installed 480 gig ssd (expensive, but worth it.) For me, unibody advantages over retina: *- Firewire (i have fw soundcard and alot of hdd's) *- Ethernet *- Line input (without a dedicated soundcard, i can use 2 line & 1 mic ins si...

Re: Using Abelton and Maschine

When using maschine in ableton, i prefer to open vsti's inside ableton, not in maschine.
Mostly i use maschine as drumbox.
@Type-R, what is the advantage of using 2 seperate instances? Unless you are using 1.8 and limited to 8 groups, i find using more than one instance is confusing.

Re: Is it possible to add cue points within Live

Splitting original track" is my most avoiding thing actually. If i'd split, i actually dont need software to "add track start/stop points". What i need is whole 1 hour audio to add many start/stop points. I have dl'ed <xo wave demo>, it seems itll do it (i dont have empty cds right now to test), but...

Re: Is it possible to add cue points within Live

(If I didn't already have Sound Forge,) I'd mix in Live, export the whole set and add the track markers in whatever burning software I'm using. Problem is, i couldn't find out which software to add that track markers :) I'm using Tost titanium 11 and it doesn't seem to have that option. And audacit...

Re: Is it possible to add cue points within Live

Thanx timbeaux, but this is not what i am asking. Do this locators add some metadata into audio when exported, so cd players recognize new tracks? Maybe its not called cue point (thats why i said "i might use some terms wrong".) If this is not possible with ableton, which program can i use? (im on m...

Re: Using Abelton and Maschine

You make things with maschine standalone, and want to open it inside ableton? If so; save maschine project (and remember its BPM), open ableton, change bpm to what your maschine project is. Go to plug-ins > VST > Maschine 2 drag it to a midi track Within maschine open your saved project. You can als...

Is it possible to add cue points within Live

Hi there. I may use some terms wrong, what i mean is: i have 1 hours audio and i want 00:00 to 03:57 track 1, 03:57 to 05:82 (what?!) track 2 etc.. So i can find songs easier when playing with cd player. I can do that with toast titanium but its miksing capabilities very limited as you know. I want ...

I like the simple GUI too.
But "with an option to go back to the classic interface", all changes are ok. Especially big faders.

Re: Suitable Microphone for Field Recording

This.
Sponge windshield doesn't cancel enough wind noise, this does. (If it doesn't you'll need a boom pole, but mostly it does.)

I have no idea which sick minds find these names (deadcat, shotgun) though :D

Re: Suitable Microphone for Field Recording

I haven't used tascam so i cannot compare, but zoom mics are decent enough for field recordings. (Except for dialogs, then a shotgun and/or lavalier is needed.) You'll also need a deadcat in cases where sponge windshield is not enough. Check which one better suits you. I sometimes use Rode NTG 2 > I...

Re: Live for traditional recording/mixing - An experiment

Sepp Ultura wrote: if you have 13 drum tracks running and you want to record 6 bass tracks simultaneously, the bass player will experience dropouts on the pilot-track, which, during a recording session is not a good thing.
Using an external 7200 RPM HDD may avoid dropouts.

How to make *.asd files invisible (OSX)

Here is a small python script to hide all asd files on a given location and it's subfolders: #!/usr/bin/env python # encoding: utf-8 import os, subprocess path = "/Volumes/DATA" # write your own path here for root, dirs, files in os.walk(path):     for i in files:         if i.endswith(".asd"):     ...
