Re: Audio Problems Using Ableton 8 and Web at The Same Time

From my experience with both a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and Scarlett 18i6, the Scarlett ASIO drivers do *not* multi-stream with Ableton running. Also, I have a newer Win7 rig and found that the 18i6 with Scarlett drivers caused Ableton to hang on launch two out of every three tries. I had extended cor...

Re: Daisy chaining synths

I realized after I posted, that I should mention both my synths are rackmount (that is, no keyboard), so I don't "play" my synths to record MIDI data. I have a separate MIDI keyboard that I use to play MIDI data into Ableton, that is then routed to the synths. That's the reason I rarely need the MID...

Re: Daisy chaining synths

Ah-Ha!! There's the problem! The MIDI OUT of Synth #1 is not connected to anything! MIDI THRU passes along the original MIDI signal from the MOTU without adding anything from Synth #1, which is how it is designed to work. All your Synth #1 signals are sitting at the MIDI OUT port, but with no connec...

Re: Daisy chaining synths

Trying to wrap my head around how you would do this... It seems like you should be able to daisy chain the MIDI signals from the MOTU to the synths if the first synth has a MIDI thru port, but not sure you can send the MIDI output of both synths to the MOTU over one line. Have you tried this setup? ...

Re: need help record a mix into abelton live with focusrite 2i4

On the 2i4, there is a little slide switch beneath the headphone output that controls whether the headphones are monitoring channels 1-2 or 3-4. The Ableton Master track outputs to channels 1-2 by default, so.... If your computer speakers are plugged into 1-2, your monitors into 3-4, and your headph...

Re: What audio interfaces are you guys using?

Using a Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 and love it. Just upgraded from the 2i4 so that I can leave my hardware synths plugged in! :)

Re: Recording Synth Sounds that don't require external playback

Freeze and flatten is what I do. When I first started using a hardware synth in Ableton, I thought I had to route my sound to a separate audio track and record while the MIDI programming played the instrument. Then I discovered that freeze/flatten does that automatically. When finished, it converts ...

Re: Glue Compressor - it's damn good, right?

Did you know... that the native Ableton Glue Compressor is actually Cytomic's the Glue? It was given 4.5 stars by Music Radar and listed as one of the top 15 compressor vst's in their roundup late last year. Ableton partnered with Cytonic to use their plug-in. So that's one reason it sounds so good!...

Is it a sweep or a wash? Or something else?

Greetings all, Been lurking here for awhile and finally decided to post a question that has me stumped. I'm trying to create an audio effect that muddles/muffles a track in the beginning and then gradually opens up to reveal the full spectrum of the sound. An example would be Fatboy Slim's "Gangster...
