Re: what is more common for dance music?

If there's a lot of low frequency stuff that you know you'll wanna get rid of anyway, filter it out before you compress. Low frequencies = high energy and that'll significantly change how your compressor operates. Make fine adjustments afterwards. If there's not much that's obviously musically usele...

Re: Live EQ and compressor compared to 3rd party plugins

Well, I think Tarektih, Leeds and Bagginz pretty much nailed it. They're perfectly fine, nothing wrong with them (EQ8 and Compressor that is. T, L and B are absolutely crazy  ). Actually, methinks Compressor is a bit above average. And I use them all the time. But, as others have said, they're...

Best,

Oh, there's some seriously cool stuff in that pack! Not all that dubby perhaps, if you're in to old school dub. But good stuff nevertheless.

Re: TouchAble - complete controller for Ableton Live & IPAD

The mapping of instruments and f/x, how does it work? Will they all have dedicated interfaces like that awesome EQ8 interface in the vid? That would be, like, wow! (I know, I sound like a teenage girl. Maybe I am one. ) And what about VST and AU plug-ins, can you access their parameters too? ...

Re: A good dubby delay recommendations

Don't know if there are any reasonably cheap and reasonably dirty dedicated spring reverb plugs out there? The spring presets in dedicated reverb plugs are usually way too clean. I like this one: GSI Spring Reverb Type4 http://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=28 http://www.genuinesoundware...

Re: RME: Latency lowest with FW, USB, or ?

It looks like most people in this thread equal samples value with latency, there is a relation but they are not same thing at all. For example same soundcard can give 8ms latency with 32 samples on OSX and 5ms at 128 samples on XP, the numbers the relationship - samples value vs. latency may vary d...

Re: A good dubby delay recommendations

Like people say, Tal-Dub and King Dubby. GSI has a freebie too, the WatKat. I like it a lot. Very few controls which is a good thing if you want to sound genuine IMO. They didn't have tempo synced echoes in Kingston back in the days you know. But if you're going for old school dub, you'll also need ...

Re: TouchAble - complete controller for Ableton Live & IPAD

Some of the graphics are cool, some are truly WRETCHED. Agreed. The graphics in the vid + pics range from poor to downright awful I'm afraid... But the functionality seems really, really cool! Well done! :D better color rendering: The biggest problem is that it's so inconsistent. You've got ...

Re: RME: Latency lowest with FW, USB, or ?

side note.. out of curiosity i did the same test with a NI audio8 that comes with traktor, and i could get around 60 samples without hearing a single dropout. going below 50 causes only occasional dropouts. i could run a full project with a latency around 90samples.. surprise.. these interfaces sho...

Re: RME: Latency lowest with FW, USB, or ?

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/477939-new-rme-babyface-new-total-mix-fx.html It's a subjective thing, but tracking vocals is usually OK up to 256 samples latency, and 256 samples latency is the same as standing 11 feet away from a guitar amp, something most guitarists do when playin...

Re: why do people wear headphone when they sing ?

thanks for your reply tone deft, but in this case, there is no music other then the guitar which he is playing? so could there be something else ? What tone and the others said. But also because any good singer will adjust both his/her position and singing during a take, to get the best dynamics, a...
