Re: compression effects

// damn you guys are way too fast for me could no post this here in time.... okay, before i come across as arrogant idiot (...): The first question to ask is not what does the compressor do, the first question is: what sound do you want to get on the vocals? And if you think a compressor is the way ...

Re: compression effects

yep, google helps: Compressibility [work on] The reciprocal value of the bulk modulus is the compressibility (symbol: ? or ?), also compressibility coefficient. This is often used with gases and liquids instead of the bulk modulus. One differentiates between isothermal compressibility ?T (constant t...

Re: one of these days.....

At least the people won't go deaf. 100dB is more than enough if you ask me.thread closed. Thread reopened. If you try to enforce a rule that intends to limit the signal to 96dB, and also suggest a technical solution to do so (which is hard to achieve btw) you'll create a situation that works in fav...

Re: one of these days.....

just got a mail from the festival director. they going to sort it out somehow...the sun is shining again... ( and yes, 120dB is loud if you think of 1 kHz, but if you like to have some impressive low end and then there is a 96 dB limit, enforced by a brickwall limiter, or by a pumping compressor is ...

Re: one of these days.....

I thought this is clear: "sound system: the sound system should consist of four full range speakers and two additional subs, for example : 4 x db audio C7-TOP 2 x db audio B2-SUB " if I specify such a PA, I assume that what i can use is what this PA offers, right???? I will add another line: PA need...

Re: one of these days.....

Well, what's really annoying is the fact that this comes up long after the contract has signed etc. Really nice move. Well, I wrote them a mail back saying that this is not acceptable, but I already can see an absurd and stressful discussion coming when we set up...

Re: The document is corrupt

send an email with the live document (without samples) and a description of your problem and exact version of Live / computer configuration / OS to support@ableton.com this might be quicker than hoping for them to randomly scan the forum. you could also try to delete the preferences. but i am not co...

Re: Operator 8 Filter FM

you can modulate the filter with the lfo, which itself runs up to pretty high frequencies. however, this is not true filter fm*, since the filter coefficients are not calculated with sample rate but only every 16th sample or so to save cpu. for true filter fm one would want filters especially optimi...

Re: m0nolake at bloc :]

Ipod: i really thought: I should have an ipod for those cases.... re: bass: yes, sorry to hear that. i heard a few people telling me this. the problem was that on stage it felt like there was way to much high frequencies going on, and since the sub was located right below us, it was super hard to te...

Re: m0nolake at bloc :]

yep. could not resist using a max4live pre-beta version.... funny thing: after relaunching, my live set by itself decided which clip to start next. so i just followed it and it was okay... a bit annoying: i came with my friend Tarik, who's doing really cool video. however, it was barely visible, bec...

Re: SERIOUS Live 8 Warping BUG ? (high frequencies cut off)

Are you sure you are not using Complex Pro, transposing the sample up and the Envelope parameter is set to anything else than 0% ? Because in this case you indeed loose high frequencies and this is intentional to preserve the formants. However, I could not reproduce that problem with other warp mode...

Re: It is my birthday, and i'm getting a Motu ultralite

Happy Birthday! Welcome to the club, the Ultralite performs really well for its price: It sounds great, it is robust and reliable too. One little thing: If you plan to use the Motu on stage, bring your own jack cables with you, especially if you use more than 2 outputs / inputs. Reason: PA guys ofte...

Re: Recommended Headphones for Mixing?

The biggest problem mixing with cans is there is no stereo crossfeed (the left ear hearing the right channel and vise-versa). As a result your stereo imaging is off compared to monitors. You can compensate, but a better way is to use a crossfeed plug-in designed for monitoring with headphones. (The...
