To give an answer to the topics question and a bit to that on going sound quality debate: i use live since version 2.0 as my main DAW and i did two albums, and a bunch of other productions with it. before i did use protools. i am currently working on a new CD using live 4 and preparing new material ...

I forgot to log in for the last reply, sorry. One observation which fits in this tread: If you compare the sound quality of a vinyl record with the same file taken from CD, it is obvious that in a club situation the vinyl probably will win, soundwise. People who are cutting vinyl with dance music th...

I dont really understand this but then I'm no good in math either. How can there be an error when converting from 16 bit to 32 bit? I thought errors only came when converting from a large bit-rate to a smaller, thus the need for dithering... is there someone here who can explain? Oh, sorry, i meant...

Robert, if you record to another computer, make sure you leave the audio in the digital domain because i'm quite sure that each time you convert from D to A, that there will be differences with the same file; small artifacts and clock jitter and cable noise and all that stuff. Sure i will do this. ...

Good morning. We did allready spend some serious work on this and the original idea was to get it done till Live4. As you did see when looking at the featurelist, it is not in there. It turned out to be more difficul then we initialy thought. It is not so much about the decoding itself but by the fa...

I would like to add something which goes pretty much into the opposite direction but tells very much about the perception of audio: A lot of people say, vinyl sounds better then CD. A lot of people say, the acoustic image and the way instruments can be located within the stereofield is much better t...

---------warning-------------- if you start using MAX/MSP it could change the way you think, keep you from making music, ruin your social live and cause lots of other sideeffects, like creating the desire to produce your own video clips or find new ways to calculate your income tax... I was forced t...

This topic seems to be very esoteric. First of all, if you believe that a compressor with an orange display sounds warmer then one with a grey skin and this helps you doing good music i will be the last person to tell you that you are wrong. If it works for you it is right. But in this thread we are...

Hi ducktail, i cannot give a satisfying answer to this question. It will not be in Live 4 and not in a 4.0.xx release. Later everything is possible. All i can say is that it is one of these 10000 items in our ever growing "nice to have" list... But i may point you in another direction : You can play...

There are no dedicated LFO´s for controlers in Live 4 but of course you can just draw MIDI controlers and use this as LFO. For manipulating MIDI data i strongly recommend taking a look at MAX/MSP. Since it is now also available for windows it is the perfect compagnion for Live in many ways. creating...
