Re: When its oppressively hot....

Hi,
I had a listen.
That was a very strange track indeed :)
It sounds good and the sound-design is interesting. Are you making tracks with movie or games in mind?
I feel that something like this would work well in some scary movie or game.
Interesting stuff.

Re: Pops and clicks after uploading to soundcloud

Try uploading to somewhere like Bandcamp and see if it occurs there. Upload to youtube and vimeo perhaps (you can just plonk a image in there, thats what I do for the video sites)? Another solution is to remaster the file but with a 0.2-0.5 db buffer (eg reduce the volume by that amount). Have you ...

Re: Pops and clicks after uploading to soundcloud

I've now tried uploading a 16bit wav and a 320kpbs mp3 but the clicks and pops are still there.
There are no such things when I play these files on my computer.
This is really strange! Any other ideas?
Thanks.

Re: Pops and clicks after uploading to soundcloud

There is no clipping. The quiet section of the song is nowhere near hitting the limiter. There's only a tad of compression going on.
As a test I converted the track to 128kpbs mp3 and although it sounds bad I can't hear pops and clicks..
Don't understand this at all...

Pops and clicks after uploading to soundcloud

Hi, just tried uploading a track to soundcloud and noticed some pops and clicks which I can't here when I play the file from my hard drive. I uploaded a 24bit wav file like I normally do. Anyone know what may cause this? Here's a link to the file: https://soundcloud.com/notourdates/no-tour-dates-lea...

Re: Is a mixer the right purchase?

Thanks for your input, much appreciated. I don't know anything about clocks. If you have the time, it would be great if you could explain what makes the Behringer clock crappy. Thanks. Essentially it has to do with the sampling frequency stability. The Analog to Digital Converts (ADC's) and DAC's s...

Re: Is a mixer the right purchase?

I'd venture to say that for your setup the preamps are less important than the quality of the converters, and especially the clock of whatever unit you buy. The 2 pre's and the converters on the Apollo are really good, and with unison can get some awesome sounds - use those for microphones or if yo...

Re: Is a mixer the right purchase?

Sound on Sound actually did some blind testing on preamps, and the results are as I would expect: http://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/preamp-post-mortem One thing I like to think about sometimes is that our senses evolved to allow us to survive, not discern between a vintage neve and a presonus :) ...

Re: Is a mixer the right purchase?

Thanks for replying guys. I'm a big fan of blind tests in everything from audio to wine, as I believe most people are highly biased. Re: Is a mixer the right purchase?

So I did a bit of research and of course there are tons of options. How much difference is there between preamps? I mean, if I get the Behringer ADA8200 and record my guitar or vocals through it instead of the Apollo Twin, would I be totally disgusted by the quality? I like the price of the Behringe...

Re: Is a mixer the right purchase?

Yes you can do all that, just keep in mind you'd only be able to record either all of the intruments at once as a stereo file, or solo instruments and record them one at a time still. Thanks! I don't need to be able to record several things at once, so that's great. Do I have to be careful when buy...
