I've definitely gotten to the point of too much early censoring, so I'm gonna try to post here more often.
Here's something I did a couple months ago. Probably 5 hours of work but very little actual thought about what I was doing.

Re: traktor pro filter effect with ableton
I think someone made one with racks and auto filters that wasn't very practical. I think the best way is to get this: http://code.google.com/p/skf-vst/

Re: Drop some synth knowledge on me!
This might be more work than you're after, but check out SynthEdit. I'm sure you could make something that does what you're imagining, if you have a few hours and some knowledge of analog synthesis.

Glitch Mob synth sounds
The Glitch Mob have these massive bass synth sounds that take up the whole stereo field. What's a good way to do that without losing punch? Are they panning the high frequencies outward and keeping lows centered so you can still feel it, or something like that? Any other tips on making big, digital ...

mazmith: I can get the top row of knobs, the aux send knob, all the faders, and the status buttons to map. It works pretty well but sometimes they lag or don't go all the way down to 0. I'm making a multitouch surface using a wiimote that should be done in june, so I've been holding off on new stuff.

Set up my studio area to accommodate my new mixer, jammed on a beat and produced nothing useful, and warped a few Chemical Brothers tracks for the DJ set I'd like to eventually do...

Re: Several questions after reading the manual...
I don't have all the answers, but here are a few: 1) Pressing Shift+Spacebar starts playback where you left off. 7) Create a new MIDI track that gets its MIDI input from the track with the Random effect on it. Arm the track for recording and press record, you should get the notes that come out of th...

Re: Looking to take production head-on
You could also check out "Dance Music Manual - Second Edition" by Rick Snoman. It covers a lot of general production stuff, plus there are chapters on producing house and techno specifically.

Warping tracks for Live DJing
For people who DJ with Live: I'm assuming you warp all the tracks you're planning to play beforehand, but doesn't that take a really long time? I guess that's kind of a lazy question, but I'm curious. Is it easier if you DJ electronic stuff rather than jazz or funk? Since the auto-warping doesn't ne...

Re: new mix done in Live- memes "Dubstep Over My Own Mother Mix"
I like it. I'm not a DJ, and I don't often listen to dubstep, but it sounds pretty seamless to me. Done live, not sequenced, right? If that's a silly/offensive question to ask, sorry, but I want to make sure...

Re: led ring midi controller
i don't own either controller, but in the BCR's favor, Bjorn Vayner of covops.org wrote a pretty full-featured application for it: http://www.covops.org/index.php/Freebie ... r-1.0.html
he's got videos of it in action somewhere on the site.

Sounding "analog" seems to be used interchangably with sounding good these days.

Cool sampling/hip-hop trick
I just bought Rick Snoman's Dance Music Manual to learn some production basics and came across something huge that I had not known before. At least for hip-hop sounds, it works really well to sample in 12-bit at 22khz. It makes the sound much grittier and gives it a more analog quality. Just somethi...

Re: does extra midi ports create cpu?
Thread title=win.
Seriously though, I don't think it significantly draws on your CPU. It might make MIDI response slower...? But not by a lot.

I don't know that much about acoustic guitars, but once you've tried several mic placements and found one you like, try adding reverb to what you've recorded. If you read the Live manual, it'll describe what each section does. With the right settings you'll sound much more professional just with rev...
