First off, I'm pretty new to this compared to the members of the forum, so their advice might be more helpful. Tarekith has a mixdown guide and a mastering guide, both of which are very thorough and helpful. I assume he'll post them soon. From personal experience, if I need punchy synth sounds, I tr...

That's odd, someone told me March 1st...

I still wonder how the old 128 parameter thing is going to hold in the face of so many new people using max. Watch the videos... the 128 parameter thing HAS BEEN FIXED! You can now pick which parameters you want to automate/see when you fold out the device, apparently by pressing a configure button...

Because then it wouldn't be "the next big THANG".

Seriously though, it looks interesting, and like it has some backing. More than a little gimmicky, though. Might be fun to have something directly competing with the MPC...

@ nepotist: That's probably about the way I'm going to do it. Seems like it should work. My plan is to mess around a lot in the week or two before and figure out what sounds good and then make sure I can do it. @ estevan: Thanks! I'm 17 actually... not sure if that's what you were assuming... but I ...

Might have first gig--advice?

If you want to skip the background just go below the dashed line and read my actual questions. Ok, so I might have my first laptop gig (I've played in bands before, just never solo with a computer) in about 3 weeks. I'm providing background music at a poetry reading during a 15-minute intermission ...

sigged--even though I normally compand at 2.35k, this is still good advice.

What you should do is download them all into the same folder, open the 001, and extract it. It'll automatically also extract the 002, 003, 004 etc. during the same process. If you open the folder you extracted to everything will be there (should be about 800mb-ish). I've only tried this with 7zip so...

If you have a midi controller with a pedal input, you could get a sustain pedal and plug that in. If not, you can get a keyboard, remove all the keys but one, and bind that to tap tempo. Then put it on the floor and you're ready to go.

I have checked the beats. Very nice sounds. The PM will be over myspace, if that's all the same to you...

Haha, I just bought an electribe actually, since I'm more of a composer than a sampler. The old-school backing tracks are kind of a side project with a friend who raps. Obviously, if the electribe doesn't work for me, the MPC is next on the list.
