well if you select only one syllable, and duplicate it, it will stutter, just finish out the noise.

yes, that is very easy to set up in ableton. you will use an effect rack to accomplish the 1 knob hi/lo eq. filters are great for mixing, its basically a different eq. just one that cuts frequencies and travels across frequencies vs travelling over db. very useful for djing as it can completely cut ...

i never use presets. everything is done by ear for the program material. but i'll give you some pointers for some of the stuff. bass 3-5:1 ratio, 3-5db of compression. 0-15ms of attack, 300-500ms of release. vox are usually pretty sporadic, so this setting changes... but... 2-5:1 ratio, 0-20ms attac...

the gate effect in ableton is a gate, not a chopper. gates are just that, gates. they open and close. you define the amount of time it take teh gate to open, to close, and at what volume to let anything through. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noise_gate if you want stuttering and chopping, you'll have...
