How can I easily control the next device on a track

Hey guys, how can I easily have my M4L device control the parameters of the next device after it on a track. I know i can get the parent, can I then get the id of my device and then add 1? Is there an easy way for a device to get it's own id? I'd like all this to be relative so that I can quickly sw...

Re: turn off all devices in a track via Live API, how to?

how about leaving monitor on auto and just toggle record arm on and off? you can also set record arm to function like a solo button where only one track is armed at a time.

you can still load all the Max tutorials, you just need to open max through live and not stand alone.

yeah, i suppose i'll have to keep using a separate "send patch" for now. Good suggestions though!

any other way to use API to get around midi sidechaining?

Hey guys, I know we can't yet route midi to an audio device like we would with a normal AU or VST and I know I can use a separate M4L patch to send midi from one track to another. I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to get the midi from another track using the API and not need to have 2 differen...

Re: max for live midi looper plugin

I think the point Machinate is making is that Live treats midi clips very differently then audio clips and already allows overdub recording on midi clips. so all you need to do is using something like bomes to map a midi controller to the "undo" command and you have the functionality you are describ...

Correct behavior when duplicating a device?

When a patch uses #0 within it every new instance of the patch generates random naming. When duping a device in Live it seems that now the second instance keeps the same names as the original rather then generating new random names. Is this correct? would seem to make it very difficult to use multip...

[c74] Graphic bug when deleting Max Devices 8.1b6

Hey Guys, I've started getting an odd graphic bug when deleting devices in the current beta. When the device is deleted the name of the device appears extremely large for a moment before the device disappears. I hadn't seen this until Beta 6.

I'm on a MBP running 10.5.8 8.b6 and Max 5.1a1 (40387)

cool, looks like it does work. I was concerned as the Max window stops working, so all my print objects were useless for testing.

Re: any way to send audio and midi to the same M4L patch?

Interesting, send and receive only work when the patches are open in edit mode, not when they are only open in M4L without editing.
Is this a bug?

any way to send audio and midi to the same M4L patch?

Seems like a Max instrument can receive midi and output audio. The MAx audio effect can receive audio but no midi. Is there anyway to send audio and midi to the same patch? I'm trying to port an audio effect that responds to midi notes and not getting very far.

I'll add my vote here. It would be great to get some sub-rack communication.

Re: problem with send/receive objects in M4L -by design ??

yeah right introduce a ton of timing errors, great idea well, bonus points for being so polite. I think you are assuming the current bridge between M4L and Max5 somehow doesn't introduce the same issues as OSC? I'm not saying it's tidy or that i love the solution, but it is the current reality. Any...
