Re: Midi input and Audio interface not working at the same time

Make sure the mic track is an Audio channel, the input is set to IN and the dropdown below has your mic input channel selected from the UMC22.

That work?

Re: Issues with Recording Vinyl sets w/ Scarlett Audio Interface

Hmmm, very interesting. So, are you going from the master outs from your mixer into the Scarlett?

The fact that one channel isn't producing any output is pretty odd. I assume you can hear everything okay from your speakers?

Re: Multiple hardware synths

Make sure the send channel from the keyboard is the same as the receive channel on the module?

Need more info. What are you trying to connect?

Re: I'm starting to love the Ableton compressor (the standard one)

Agree - I really love a lot of the Ableton Suite effects - EQ8 and the compressor especially.

I use the standard compressor for all of my client's spoken word stuff - I just find it super-fast and flexible. Plus, I can sidechain it to a background music track super-easily.

Re: 3rd party plug-in side chain coming?

Wait, waaaaaaaaa? Great vid, Fanu - so in your example the sidechain dropdown was something that's going to be live in 10.1?

Sore makes it a lot easier than what currently goes on with external sidechaining!

EDIT: whoops, just read Jester's link. I am legit excited!

This might be a good question for Tarekith - he just uploaded an in-depth review of this machine a day or so ago!

Re: Surround Rendering

Hey mate, Did you use a surround-sound tool/VST in Ableton? I think you need something that's going to encode the output from Ableton as a surround sound file, and then on the other end something that's going to read that surround sound (e.g. can interpret DTS). Not YouTube - that only plays back in...

Re: Ableton 10 live, best vocal settings/effects

Doesn't sound bad at all - depends on what you're going for, mate. Sounds pretty dense - maybe a bit too heavy on the reverb - could probably do some EQ scoops too to open it up a bit? Everything sounds pretty level - compression seems good. How does it sound if you render with no effects apart from...

Re: Mixdown and high frequencies

Hey mate, this is all great advice. Another thing you might want to do is EQ all individual components. A lot of hit hat/cymbal samples contain unwanted frequencies which can make things sound very harsh. Removing all of the nasty resonant frequencies can really clean up the harshness. You can do th...

It's also worth noting the recording level/output - if one is louder than the other, then it will naturally sound "better."

Re: Komplete kontrol a61

You have 10x the gear I had when I first started. I managed to create a good 100+ tracks using a Pentium 133 (family computer), a pair of Sony walkman headphones and 5 floppy disks of samples. To get more samples I needed to use the computers in the Library at our school or record my own with a mic...
