Re: Massive X - Massive F (Up)?

Yes, mate! They have got that right - the interface is crystal-clear, and scalable too. I think it looks really nice.

Oddly, they haven't done that for Kontackt 6.

Massive X - Massive F (Up)?

Hey guys, I couldn't find anything on the forum about this, so I thought I'd post a few thoughts about the new incarnation of NI's Massive. NI has released a broken/unfinished product - that's totally clear after a few days of messing around with it. It feels like a step backward...but I'm certain i...

Man, that's the weirdest thing. I got nothing, man, but I'm really curious about this.

Glue Compressor usually and maybe an EQ.
Samesies. Generally as little as possible. I do sometimes put a tape emulator/saturator on the master - that glues things together too.

No idea about the beat repeat thing. What version of Live you running?

Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

Have you tried playing the file back in Ableton as opposed to Samplitude? That should sound identical (apart from volume possibly).

Re: Midi on drum bus?

Absolutely, Matt! I do it all the time. Very odd. An empty midi track (i.e. no instrument on it) won't allow you to route to an audio track, which makes sense. A midi track with an instrument on it will. I got Kick 2 on a track here, and I can route the audio to an audio track. Let me see if I can u...

Normalization wouldn't do that, it just sets the loudest peak to 0dBFS and doesn't have any impact dynamically!
Ah ha - you are totally right! I knew that...once.

It actually sounds like some sort of compression is happening on the master? Not sure why that would impact the export though?

Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

Hmmm, could be that you have "normalize" selected on the export panel? You'll want to make sure that's not checked.

Re: Chopping audio

If you want to do it automatically, the low effort version is to use beat repeat. If you want to do it manually, like I do, drop the audio into arrangment and use ctrl & e to split the clips where you want to do the edit. Each sub section then can be edited separately, reversed, pitched down, stret...

Re: Not able to receive audio into "external Instrument" plugin

Sounds like you need to either configure the outputs of your interface or configure/select the correct inputs within Ableton/external instrument device. Hard to say....need more infos.

Re: I'm curious how many people record full songs?

"Full songs" - ha! 96% of all my tracks are unfinished - I have issues, clearly! Yeah, I do everything in Ableton, mate. I record vocals directly in. I *tried* using Logic as an experiment, but I could not get that down at all! I have thought about trying Cubase - I haven't used it for 20 years - bu...

Re: Live 10.1 seems to be out

Just updated(Suite). I can't find the CV Pack..... Looked under Packs and nada...... It's called "Creative Extensions" in my pack list. Doesn't seem to be here. Weird. Is it right at the bottom of the pack list under Available Packs or Updates? I'm pumped about easily sidechaining third-party plugi...

Re: Importing single cycle wave into Operator

I don't think you can, mate. You can create your own custom waveform by drawing it in Operator, but as far as I know you can't import a custom waveform - I think that's more of a wavetable synth thing (like Serum or Ableton's own Wavetable).

Re: Trying to find a suitable string orchestra for backing tracks

I gotcha, mate. Try taking a look at Spitfire's YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeofqKnnPcg - here's an intro to Albion One (which is their orchestral plugin). Mad buddy is a violinist for the Fort Smith Symphony (among other things), and he thinks Albion One and Solo Violins sound ...

Re: Trying to find a suitable string orchestra for backing tracks

Hey mate, It is pretty tricky to get acoustic instruments to sound "just right" - so you're not alone! It sounds like you're trying to do 2 things: 1. Find a plugin that has good violin sounds 2. Get familiar with how real-life violinists play Number 1 is this easiest - but does depend on budget. I ...
