Re: Ableton sampler/EXS24 files

Can you load multiple patches in one instance of Sampler to layer sounds? Or would you have to use an instrument rack with multiple instances of Sampler and load a patch in each one?

Re: Anyone using a 37 key midi controller?

The Korg microKey looks promising. The old M-Audio Ozonic seems like it could be a fit as well.

Anyone using a 37 key midi controller?

I have been using an M-Audio Axiom 61 (first gen) for quite some time but I need more space on my desk. I'm also going to start traveling a lot more so I'll need to get a controller that fits in my suitcase. 25 keys is a bit too small for me. I'm wondering if anyone uses a 37 key controller who may ...

Re: Samples for Sampler

I also came across clustersound.com which offers a great selection geared towards minimal/tech which is what I'm after. Thanks!

Samples for Sampler

I'm wondering if any offers a good collection of sample files or libraries for sampler. I know sampler can convert other formats but my thinking is that if someone makes a library specifically for sampler it would probably have all the right settings ready for tweaking.

Placing the drums in the "front" of the mix

A few years ago I read about a mixing method that was a good fit for dance music, but I can't find the tutorial or anything related to it. The tutorial was how to setup the proper routing so your drums really stand out in the mix. I know D.Ramirez uses this method but I'm guessing a lot of producers...

Street price of APC40 in the U.S.?

I'm confused. Some places are selling the APC40 for $695 and others for $299 (yes, APC40!). Most places that list it for $299 do not have it in stock. What gives? Has there been a price drop or is $299 the old price which is why they aren't stocking it?

Email support and they will reset it for you. It's really not a big deal. :)

Re: SOS: Vista Tweaks for DAWs

A couple other good ones for Vista.. 1) Go to Device Manager and click on the + symbol for Disk Drives so it opens. For each hard drive: Right click > Properties > Policies and tick the boxes for Enable Write Caching and Enable Advanced Performance. 2) Open a cmd or Run prompt and type msconfig. Cli...

Steeve - I'm going to be straight up. You need to filter out 80% of what you read on the forums (not just the Ableton forum). Weed out the whiners, complainers, newbies who don't really take the time to explore the program, and listen to the folks who actually use the program in a serious manner. Do...

Heavyocity

Just thought I'd give these guys a worthy mention. If you're into any sort of ambient, film/game score, spacey trippy glitchy dirty arp'd out stuff, Evolve is a kick ass 6GB sample library. There are a bunch of demos in their flash player worth checking out if this sort of thing appeals to you. The ...

If you're looking for a cheap but good orchestral library, get Garritan for Reason since you already own it. It's available on the Garritan site. Otherwise, if you think you'll use more than just Kontakt, definitely get Komplete 5. I use it almost exclusively for everything I do. The onyl other inst...

Re: What can other DAWs offer that Ableton can not

What can other DAWs like Cubase and Logic offer for finishing projects that Ableton can't. I ask because I have read that Ableton doesn't cut it for adding polish to projects. Would someone be so kind to elaborate why as I may upgrade my copy of cubase sx 3 if there is a gain. I would reverse the q...

You can get the 1616M in PCI or PCMCIA. RME has an Express card version of the HDSP for Mac and Windows. I think those are the two best options.

If you're on PC, get the EMU 1616M. PCI, extremely low latency, built in DSP, 120db A-weighted dynamic range, same converters as PTHD. Drivers for XP and Vista (both 32 and 64 bit).
