simple noob question (variable receive value)

i have a receive object, instead of hardcoding "receive chan2" for example, i want to use the number inspector to set a channel number and prepend the word "chan" to the front of it before using that as the receive value. what is the best way to build a string like "chan2" or "chan3" etc from a nume...

Re: output midi to multiple devices/outputs?

preliminary experiments indicate this may work, thanks for your help. it does mean creating a separate patch for each channel i want to receive the notes on though, it would be nicer if i could load up just one patch on the master midi input channel and select (from a dropdown) two or three other mi...

output midi to multiple devices/outputs?

How can i send midi out to more than one device at a time? ie. if you load the first midi tutorial m4L.md.01.MidiInOut.amxd i would like to know how to send the output to multiple devices, not just the current device the patch is residing on. the help file for 'midiout' says it can only output on on...

Re: What did you expect from Max4Live?

so far M4L is everything i expected and more, over the moon with what it allows. The integration is so nice. Im personnaly most exited about its midi processing abilities and interface integration, which is really tight and quite beyond what is possible with reaktor. I would probably never use M4L t...

Re: What was your most stable live + os combination (mac)

@solconnection, why are you bothering? I run a fuck ton of third party software and hardware, all the usual offenders even, (Pluggo, and NI etc.), with no problems playing sets live etc. Really the only issues that come up in general are when writing, which isn't that often either anymore. Because ...

Re: What was your most stable live + os combination (mac)

Actually I have two: MacOS X Tiger 10.4.11 + Live 8.0.4 (my last 7 was 7.0.14) MacOS X Leopard 10.5.6 + Live 8.0.4 (my last 7 was 7.0.14) I use only Live suite instruments. The only concession I allowed me is Zebra 2.3.1 Hope this helps. If you need more info from me, pls chime in ;-) Edited : If y...

Re: Fresh Install: Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard?

I will never understand over cautious late adopters. 10.6.1 is the latest and greatest version of OSX. I haven't had a kernal panic since 10.4.11. How much more stable can you get than that? I just recorded a gig running SL and Live where I played back stereo 24 bit tracks, 7 MOVs larger than 350MB...

What was your most stable live + os combination (mac)

Currently i am thinking Tiger + Live 6, but panther might be smaller still, but i never used it, how was it's stability? ...

Re: Fresh Install: Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard?

In 10.5 they added Quicklook, which is incredibly useful. In 10.6 they added signal strength icons next to the drop down list of wireless networks available, which is also quite handy. There were a few other minor enhancements such as these that improved usability. However, I've been getting some w...

Re: THE BIG USER REQUESTS TOPIC FOR LIVE9

1. Groove Pool -> Automatable Groove Parameters for all params (random, quantize, timing etc) 2. *ALL* Racks -> Controllable amount of macros (from 0, to as many as you want) being stuck at 8 is frustrating, especially if your trying to build some modular crazy drum machine or sequencer or something. ...
