It's funny how insecure Mac guys can get eh. It's like guys with small packages. They always gotta be sayin "it's what you do with it. whatever. I guess I have an obsession with "performance" LOL http://users.telenet.be/eforum/emoticons4u/violent/sterb140.gif http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticon...

powerbooks still use 5400 Rpm hard disks i dont see how you can say they are better for auido applications... The End The speed of the hard disk, or amount of RAM is the absolute worst way to judge the usefulness of a laptop, anybody who put any amount of thought into this would come to the same co...

According to my conversations with some of their staff they are completely comfortable with Live's performance on Mac and do not feel they need to optimize it further based on our complaints. I had that exact same conversation with one of the heads of Ableton, and Urs Heckman, who wrote More Feedba...

Re: Optimization

I have to raise a red flag here again -- there is no practical way to compare Logic to Live. Absolute apples to oranges; the DSP processes are entirely different. WAY too many variables. It'd be like benchmarking Unreal Tournament versus Adobe Photoshop. Might mean SOMETHING, but how would you tell...

Re: to ram or not to ram powerbook g4 550

thinking of upgrading the ram in my powerbook 550mhz, i have 256mb at the moment. any ideas? This is a great example of what Adam Jay was saying..... the 550 and 667 from that year are the worst of the line.... polemans, just get a new powerbook. You will experience a SERIOUS speed increase from ne...

Actually claudek, Iran doesn't have much in the way of oil, but it has the second largest natural gas reserve in the world. Makes you wonder why they're so desperate to develop their "peaceful" uranium enrichment program... [/quote] Not much huh? http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/world-top-t...

Re: just got logic7

sucks after using ableton live.live is the future.end of conversation. Not really, until Live is as CPU friendly as Logic, there will be room in my studio for both. I like to do some hardcore midi editing, and Logic is years ahead in that department. Let's put it this way, I get 5 to 6 instances of...

Live hard crashes corrupt the song...

This has happened a few times with Live 4.03, A crash happens when working on a new, as yet unnamed song. After restarting Live, it asks if I would like to save the crashed song? upon attempting this, Live crashes... repeat add infinitum...... This is on a dual gig G4 desktop mac. I haven't yet upda...

they always were/are best in audio/video what surprising about it ? Perhaps that they do not work even better, just Live is more pc tuned. Live isn't tuned better for PCs as much as it's not tuned at all for G4 chips. An 800mhz G4 and 800mhz G3 will perform exactly the same with Live, there's no Al...

I just have to say that this title is silly. I own both Logic and Live, and really wouldn't have it any other way. Until Live isn't a total CPU pig, and has a little less attachment to it's "single interface" concept.... seriously, think about messing with MIDI in the piano editor, you end up stretc...

You can't use ANY amount of it in a song, even if in Negativeland's case it was obvious parody. BAD precedent BAD!

And the NWA track hardly invades PFunks share of the marketplace... Besides, whatever happened to statute of limitation? The NWA track is like a gazillion years old! If the lawsuit had been 10(?) years ago, I might have felt differently about it... The interesting part about that to me is George Cl...
