Re: CPU usage in Live 10

I don't really get why anyone erases their posts when they've been quoted? It's just awkward. :x The point wasn't to chat about Reaper, DP, Logic etc. all do it as well. It's just to point out that Ableton still have a CPU heavy DAW on their hands at a time when other DAWs seem to have gotten around...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

It matters because it explains where the differences in performance between Live and Reaper come from, which is not "bad coding" from Ableton's part (to start with, CPU usage is not the only factor to consider when weighting "good" or "bad coding"), and also provides a suggestion for people that on...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

"Anticipative processing" is just an extra audio buffer, that adds to latency like any buffer and doesn't fit the real-time model of Ableton Live. ........... Rising Live's audio buffer to a huge size similar to the size of Reaper's anticipative processing's buffer size should get the performance c...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

Yep, we are definitely on the same page here. Machiensworking, I gather that you are similarly a "best of both worlds" user like me, choosing the environment you wish to work in based on the task at hand :) It's just like you and jur said, the design goals and the priorities of an efficient "tradit...

Re: Live 10.1

I think the problem ableton may have had with the multi/tool is perhaps the idea of needing to have a toolbar. Thats not really necessary though. Toolbars are rarely used other than as indicators of the current tool. If a key such as "C" changed the cursor to a razor (my preference!) then no toolba...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

I know it's a cheap shot mentioning other DAWs and comparing to them, as not all measures are equal there, but personally I find it amazing how something like Reaper can be so much more performant than Live 10, compared head to head in similar tasks where applicable. Reaper is the most CPU efficien...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

Live's Meter is NOT a CPU usage meter, so you can't rule out the T2 bug. In fact if Live's Meter is peaking, but the CPU measured in Activity Monitor outside Live is not, that is a sign the problem is not CPU usage. That's true to a degree. IMO, and I think it's easy enough to prove, CPU usage in D...

Love Prodigy and Flint, hate suicide.
I know far too many people who succumbed to it.

Re: Live foot controller other than Behringer?

But saying that there's nothing better than the Behringer at any price point is a bit much . Hence my post. You asked about foot controllers. I'm no Behringer fan, but it's the best thing they make IMO, Rig Kontrol had more issues.. You ask for advice, you even mention this: or anyone want to convi...

Re: Live foot controller other than Behringer?

Well the FAMC Liquid Foot for one. I might keep it after all. I think, if their customer service was better, it's the best and most versatile midi foot controller out there. It doesn't have the pedals but I have an overabundance of good expression pedals already. 12 fully assignable switches, each ...

Re: Live foot controller other than Behringer?

i have mixed feelings about the FCB1010. they are good value for sure. but for me way too chunky and heavy, and the stock firmware is a bit clunky. i have a SoftStep 2 now, but do like the look of the Nektar Pacer too. Depeche Mode road the tube with their ancient keyboards to practices gigs etc. :...

Re: Live foot controller other than Behringer?

I don't WANT to use Behringer. I just can't do it. Any other suggestions or anyone want to convince me to just get it because it's by far the best for the money? . The FCB 1010 is single handedly the best thing Behringer has ever done MIDI or otherwise. I sold mine because I got NI Rig Kontrol, whi...

Re: MPE support.

Bitwig does Ableton Link and MIDI beat clock. You still have to figure a way to record the audio, but if you're writing in Bitwig you can print stems in Bitwig. Reaper does Rewire, that's the easiest solution to MPE at the moment in Live. There's a python script that creates the 16 tracks you need f...

It's a lot better looking for sure. I actually had to get off my lazy ass and bookmark "New Posts" though. Far too lazy for drop down menus.

Re: Novation SL 61 mkIII or NI Komplete Kontrol S61 mkII ?

Novation all the way. If you can find a SLMK1 even better. Novation Automap is dead except for it’s absolutely fantastic Ableton support, all of your VST plug in parameter that you have confured in Live show up on the LED screens, everything is plug and play, No Komplete Control plug in needed, no a...
