Re: VST3 Support!

I think it's pretty obvious from all this why there wasn't a rush to adoption on VST3, but hopefully that changes in the future if/when the promises to us and developers (VST3 coding was supposed to get almost all the way there to AU AAX etc.), finally emerges. I 200% agree! And now we're good for ...

Re: VST3 Support!

So most that pass in Live are working, but a lot of the holy grails of VST3 aren't there. No fault of Ableton's. VST3 was supposed to bring resizable GUI's which happened in VST2 anyway, but any GUI not resizable in VST2 is not getting it in VST3. At least here. VST3 is supposed to release CPU back ...

Re: VST3 Support!

Sorry but can I say something? THAT WAS ABOUT GODDAMN TIME. We will see. VST3 came to my other main squeeze DP10, and almost none of them pass plug in evaluation, which Live doesn't really do, or at least not as strenuously. U-He reports that their plug ins will not take MIDI learn, until something...

Re: SysEx (this is simply) I NEED...

I suppose Logic/DP record to a timestamp which gives them the ideal speed for the hardware. I'm trying to reverse engineer the export options of MIDI-OX/Sysex-Librarian before I put my patch out there. I know you can brick a Moog if you don't get the Sysex playback speed right. Thanks for working o...

Re: SysEx (this is simply) I NEED...

Maxforlive supports sysex. So, witch M4L Plugin can send Sysex in real time within Ableton works? Your question is extremely relative. There is no default M4l sysex patch/device which will send Sysex message and there is a reason for that. Because every manufacturer have their own sysex nomenclatur...

Re: Ableton CPU Overloading on High Spec Mac

His stuff about cpu speed did make me blink a bit. You mean I’m spending money on i7s when I still have a perfectly good Pentium D cpu sitting in the attic? OK, he’s right in a way - if the problem is, as you point out, an overloaded system bus or deferred procedure calls from badly written drivers...

Re: DP 10 gets Clips Window ?? :)

I think it's a good thing Ableton is getting more competition but will I switch, no. Personally I've always used a DAW like DP, Logic, Reaper etc. alongside Live. :) I like that the competition is doing things like Live, it makes any transfers between them that much easier. I think Force and DP10 a...

Re: Ableton CPU Overloading on High Spec Mac

Just got a macbook pro and this thing is a nightmare. Upgraded it to High Sierra when I got it. Whenever I make a mere drum loop in a new set the CPU is hitting 50 -70% during playback, whole projects would max at 5% on my old laptop. 16GB Ram, i7 processor, nothing else installed on it. What do I ...

Re: Ableton CPU Overloading on High Spec Mac

This is the best explanation of how CPU power relates to DAW use that I've ever seen. So well done. Well worth a half hour of your time if you use computers to make music. Seriously. https://youtu.be/GUsLLEkswzE Yeah that's a pretty good explanation as to why you can have problems with real time pe...

Re: Ableton CPU Overloading on High Spec Mac

essentially the Live "CPU" meter is showing the status of the weakest link in the chain. which makes sense, since overloading any one core will cause a glitch. in the end it doesn't matter how many cores you have—if any one core is overloaded then you are done. if you have 1000 cores and only one i...

Re: DP 10 gets Clips Window ?? :)

DP10 shipping today. Downloading now. Obviously fellow Live users aren't that interested in this, but I think it's good to have at least a Live and DP users take on the new Clips window in DP10 in these forums. :) I don't get any indication that MOTU are going to be as integrated into Live as AKAI a...

Re: Ableton CPU Overloading on High Spec Mac

Not sure how Live handles threading and core usage, but until recently Logic Pro shoved everything in the same “chain” - the track, track fx and anything the track had sends to - through a single core. Which could result in overloading one core while the others were at barely more than idle. Live s...
