Re: Midi - drums

Learning anything new can be tricky. The learning curve of Live is steap at first but smooths out very very quickly. It just takes messing around with Live a lot to get the basics down. In the process, you sometimes come up with ideas you'd never have thought of if you knew the program really well....

Re: Anyone know any tutorial sites for hip hop?

2 Things, firstly if you are looking to learn about production and of your daw don't limit yourself to just the genre you are producing for, for tips. It doesn't matter the genre, we are all using the same tools and 95% of the time things you learn from an edm tutorial for example are applicable to ...

Komplete Select + Upgrade cheaper than Komplete standard?

Hey guys, it seems like the komplete select upgrade is being sold for a discount at the moment for 150 pounds, the standard version of komplete however is going for 470 pounds. Since komplete select is 150 pounds also it seems like a no brainer to just buy komplete select and its upgrade for 300 pou...

Free Drum and Bass Drum One Shots?

Hi guys, ive looked fairly extensively for some free DnB drum one shots samples and while ive found a few they are pretty few and between in comparison to other genres. If anyone knows where I can find any that would be great, don't link torrents, if the creator wants to get paid for their work they...

Re: Music Loop Newbie Question

Well, I'm sorry I seemed to have stirred up a hornets nest between the theorists and the pragmatists. I thank the theorist for putting the case for music theory and to bring up some particularly helpful points. Although I'm aware of the theory relating to transposition, I hadn't thought of the audi...

Re: Music Loop Newbie Question

This is a crucial rule to follow if you're going to sample chords, otherwise your piece will sound atonal and all over the place. … Just follow the rules I highlighted in bold and transpose the chords to your key. I know this was well meant and all, but I disagree with all of it. Even as I know and...

Re: Music Loop Newbie Question

What no one here has touched on which you NEED to know is some basic music theory. I know this is going to sound boring, but please listen. A basic chord is made up of 3 notes, most commonly creating a major or minor chord. The difference between a minor chord and a major chord is the 3rd (middle no...

How to properly stack effects chain?

Hey guys, I was just looking for some advice on how to stack my effects chain properly. For example if I'm using reverb, phasers, filters etc. should I compress, EQ, add OTT etc. to the patch before or after the FX and what difference will happen if I do each way? Also what are somethings I should b...

Awesome track dude, kick is slightly too much but that's just me :)

Btw I also used to prefer mix my stuff in Logic also, you just have to get used to Abletons workflow, took me a while to get used to.

Re: How to know the note of a sample

I believe this is what you are looking for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm76ejG4lD4 You need Ableton suite to use the tuner and operator but the tuner isn't necessary and for the operator just open up a soft synth like Serum or Sylenth and just play a sine wave. (btw ignore the strange puppet in...

Re: A general question to intermediate and experienced producers

All the time dude, its often good to just save the project and step away from it for a while. Ill frequently come back to tracks with a fresh look on it and the ideas will come flooding in. Sometimes you just cant move a track along, its best just to accept it and spend your time on something more w...

Re: Vocal extraction

Funny you should mention this, a producer called Jon Sine made a video on this literally a week ago. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uy49niE1sUg He makes his video in a vlog format so you will need to skip ahead to find what you are looking for. But it works pretty well. He is using Logi...

Re: Help on a Drum and Bass intro

Not exactly sure what you mean but one thing you can do to create a ''woosh effect'' is whack on a load of reverb onto a sample, then freeze and flatten the track, slice out the impact of the noise and just take the reverb tail. Can lead to some interesting results. Also try reversing the reverb tai...
