Thanks guys. Your input is great. I will make sure that Chad knows that we want a "power" book to get the most out of Live. Since Live is a creative tool, there is a fine line in showing every trick in the book and showing basics that push you in the right direction to be more creative yourself. Cha...

Mike, Thanks for the results! I am confused. I thought Live could only read one processor in the Dual Macs? Am I wrong? Can you or anyone else verify that Live uses both cpu's? If that's the case then that sounds pretty good. I would assume the 2.5ghz G5 would be a nice improvement on this test also...

drush, I will definitly pass that along. I see that over 70 people have read this thread and only one response? Come on, guys. This is a good chance to add some input about things you would like to see in the book. With all the complaining that goes on here I would fgure more people would have respo...

New Ableton Live 4 book coming this fall.

I have some good news from the NAMM show that I wasn't sure if I could share it until now. Chad Carrier (from M-Audio) is updating Dave Hill Jr.'s book, "Ableton Live 2 Power!". Chad will be adding chapters for version 3 and 4. It should be in fine books stores everywhere in the fall. All the new fu...

I know of a new book coming out soon. But I cannot disclose any further info until I ask the writer of the book whether or not I can give any type of details. I will email him and write another post after I get his response.

Per Boysen,
That sounds cool. How many tracks/virtual instruments/audio fx did you have running in Logic?

dirtstyle, I'm a dumbass. I should have read your signature. lol. Well, in Live 4, try and put a RenEQ and RenComp on each channel (40+ tracks) if you could. Then add reverbs and anything else that's processor intensive. I basically would like to know how far you can push your 1.8ghz G5 with Live. I...

Does Live 4 have any competition?

I know there are things that other programs do well and maybe even better than Live 4 according to some people. But there are features in Live that I have not seen in other programs. For instance, in Live, you are recording drums, bass, and vox and midi "stuff". In reatime you can hightlight a certa...

It's about time! I'm glad to see someone here who is "excited" about Live 4. I know there are others out there but this forum is drowning in a sess pool of negative threads. Anyway, Live 4 has also changed everything for me. I am using DP for only one thing now. Surround sound. That's it. And I am s...

dirtstyle, Thank for the reply. Could you run a quick test for me if it's not too much trouble? I would like you to take a 4 minute track, copy and paste it between 40-50 times in the arrangment view, add tons of rediculous automation, and add as many plugins as you can. And let me know where the CP...

LIVE 3/4 with G5

Is anyone using a G5 and Live 3/4? I would like to know how many tracks you are getting and how many plug-ins you can use? I ordered a new 2.5ghz G5 but I'm thinking I could have just ordered the 2.0ghz machine so I wouldn't have to wait 4-6 weeks. But do you think the 25% increase in processor spee...

Some,

Good idea! I am going to email a few Ableton friends right now.
I still would like to start a separate forum. Giving this place a digital enema might be a little time consuming.
