Something else that would be useful: follow actions not tied to beats and bars. Sometimes I've had ideas that are purely based around the length of a clip.

...but precisely? If it doesn't start in a place on the grid can you drop it immediately after another without having to repeatedly zoom in and drag? I work primarily with multi track audio that has not been recorded to a click. I like the free-from-the-timeline features of ableton but not being abl...

Thanks I'm finding I can use locator (marker) points as you suggested in a similar way and they refer to one point rather than two. If I make a selection across all the tracks, clicking a marker moves that point to the locator point. Also I can set a locator to the song in play with the press of a b...

Coming from Pro Tools and Logic Ableton is quite unconventional by not having the following features as far as I can tell: 1. No group tracks (so you have to keep selecting each track at a time by multi-clicking each time you want to move clips or cut them on many tracks). Automation is worse in thi...

Drag back after punch in possible?

So I'm in play in the transport, playing along on my electric guitar. I realize I like what I played. After punching in on other software, I can drag back from where I pressed record to where I first pressed play. This does not seem possible in Ableton.

Is it?

Many thanks
