Re: Count-in on Playback ?

If you're running playback via Session View, refer to this old thread:

Re: Question about Ableton and RAM (memory)

If you are using midi tracks mainly, this shouldn't affect Ram or disk usage, as midi is pretty low bandwidth data. Midi tends to affect CPU use if using softsynths. If you are using large sample libraries however, you could eat up ram. You can monitor your ram usage on a performance monitor progra...

Are you asking if you have enough gear to make music? Lets just say yes and leave it at that.

Easiest way to have everything set up how you'd like when you open Live is to create a template.

Re: Question about Ableton and RAM (memory)

If you're using a lot of plugins, that's adding CPU strain. Adding RAM won't really alleviate that problem. Trying freezing tracks or bouncing them to audio. You could also put the plugins on a "low quality" mode while you're working and turn them up when it's time to bounce if they have the option.

Re: Surge Protection + Energy Consumption + Master ON OFF

As I understand it, unless you expect to deal with a lightning strike, turning off the surge protectors isn't going to leave your gear vulnerable. Sounds like you have 5 inputs used up, so if you want to consolidate all of that to one device, I'd consider looking at a Furman power conditioner.

Re: Question about Ableton and RAM (memory)

That's quite a bit of RAM already. Are you using a lot of large sample libraries? If not, adding more RAM probably isn't going to do much for you.

Re: Things you wish you knew when you started?

Not really a "wish I knew" thing, but I can't recommend learning the quick keys and forcing yourself to memorize them enough. Hopefully you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of Push and use it a lot (I do), but you'll still have to spend time working with a mouse and keyboard. When you do, using the qui...

Re: How To Play Sounds within a drum rack as though on keyboard?

It would need to be on it's own track, outside of a drum rack. By using a drum rack, you're only triggering the sound with a specific MIDI note, so playing melodies with that single sound won't be possible. You could get creative with something like automating the pitch device, but that's a lot of w...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 headphones not working

Did you check the audio I/O in the preferences? See the following (specifically #5):

Might be worth going through the list just in case something was missed.

Re: Record played midi keyboard and loops

Are you launching the first row from the Master channel (Scene 1)? If so, you don't have any clips on there for the bass channel to launch. Looking at that Session View, if you launch Scene 3 (row 3 from the Master), you should be able to hear the bass along with the kick and snare. I/O routing seem...

Sounds like naming the clips might be helpful (see 8.1.2):

Re: Record played midi keyboard and loops

I've tried both. With "In" i'm able to hear my track while playing, but when i launch the loop, i'm not able to hear it. Viceversa, if i use auto, i'm not able to hear what i'm playing until i'm launching/recording a loop. The problem is that i have a drum loop which keeps going for the whole song(...
