Re: Studio Synth Setup Help

The Blofeld can sound very good but it's not bug-free, though the latest operating system, 1.25, seems to be reported as pretty much OK. You might find this (long) thread useful, especially the later pages. https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-and-electronic-music-production/...

Re: What headphones do you use?

Apple earbuds aren’t as bad as NS10s. How those things ever became something of an “industry standard monitor” for any purpose other than “let’s see how this sounds with no bass or top end when played through some really bad speakers” has baffled me for years. Yet I know people who still like them, ...

Re: Monitoring and Latency

Just to clear one thing up. Recorded audio’s position on the time-line should not be affected by the incoming audio latency, assuming the audio driver correctly reports the input latency to Live. Not all drivers do unfortunately, and some interfaces have a fixed internal buffer the driver doesn’t re...

Re: Sync Playback Position Indicator with High Latency Output

You might try adjusting the driver error compensation in audio preferences and see it that gets things to line up. Try adding 40 or 50 milliseconds and see what happens. How bluetooth audio works means there will always be a lot of latency while using it, usually in the tens of milliseconds. One pro...

Re: Komplete 12 External Hard Drive

It might well. Putting sample libraries on a dedicated disk is a good idea in principle because it spreads the work load around more disks. However, an HDD is never going to be as fast as an SSD, especially in seek times which can be a factor when loading lots of small files. Personally I’d consider...

Re: What headphones do you use?

I use them all tho because after you get to know the characteristics of each then moving from one to the next helps bring to light issues that don't appear in one set from the other. On that subject... I also use standard Apple earbuds, the wired kind that come with phones and iPads. Partly because...

Re: Ableton sync with Korg SQ1 via USB

The noise problem seems to only occur when the SQ-1 is connected to a computer, or maybe some, but not all, USB charger plugs. It also seems to depend on the hardware the CV outputs are connected to. It’s obviously an earthing issue of some sort. I usually run mine off cheap rechargeable batteries w...

Re: Ableton sync with Korg SQ1 via USB

I’ve a couple of SQ-1’s. The SQ-1 syncs through the USB connection without problems. It should show up in Live’s MIDI preferences and just needs sync enabling. Unfortunately there’s a couple of problems if it’s connected to a computer. Most things connected to the CV outputs will make a high-pitched...

Re: What headphones do you use?

Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro 250Ohm, which are supported both by sonarworks and Waves NX. Which is useful if I need to use them for mixing or checking out the deep bass my monitors might be rolling off. For closed-back use when there’s a risk sound from the headphones might spill into a microphone, or if...

Re: micro problem

Could you provide a link to the USB mic and interface you have bought? 1byOne’s website doesn’t seem to have anything on it that is suitable for recording work or any audio interfaces other than USB microphones, which might be OK for podcasts etc. but are less suitable for audio production.

Re: off beat drum

If you’ve recorded it as audio that’s what the clip warp tool is for. https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/audio-clips-tempo-and-warping/#9-2-time-warping-samples Or you could try quantising the audio. If it’s recorded as MIDI then quantising might work, otherwise select the notes that are off tempo an...

Re: Struggling with Latency

Also it helps to have the Scarlett plugged directly in the PC Good advice, audio interfaces often don’t like being connected to external hubs, especially ones like the 2i2 which get their power from the USB bus. If the PC is a tower or desktop with expansion slots it can even be worthwhile to add a...

Re: Ableton's GUI Lagging extremely hard

Hey, could you tell me more about this process? I should have posted a link, sorry. https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=230967 It worked for me and has worked for others, but doesn’t seem to work for everyone or all Macs. trying it does no harm though. Hopefully Ableton’s developers are l...

Re: Recording sustained notes instead of pedal on/off

How long are you wanting to sustain notes? Some instruments/samples have a fixed maximum length - e.g. pianos - because that’s how the instrument behaves. If the instrument has an ADSR envelope then adjusting that, especially the decay and release, can add some sustain. If you’re creating very long ...

Re: Playback Tempo Slowed Down! Help!!!

Does the pitch change as well or just the tempo? Also, how much does the tempo change? A lot or a little?

How are you MIDI clocking? Is Live the master MIDI clock or is it set to sync to something else in MIDI preferences?
