Re: High Latency VSTs

The latency should go away when removing these plugins (not when turned off). Can you report your finding to support@ableton.com please? Latency not being corrected when a high-latency plugin is deleted is something I’ve had happen, but not at all often and I’ve yet to be able to make it happen at ...

Re: one crash too many, goodbye after a decade...

Macs are still as reliable as ever. At least, they are now the recent Mojave 10.14.4 release seems to have fixed the USB audio issues affecting the 2018/19 T2 chip models. There are some long threads on RME’s forums about that if anyone’s interested in diving down that rabbit hole. I used Windows DA...

Re: Installing VST’s

Are you using a Mac or Windows? Where plugins go depends on the operating system.

Re: High Latency VSTs

If you hover the mouse pointer over the device’s title bar in the bottom window it should tell you how much latency the plugin is causing. If you use Waves plugins their website tells you what the plugin induced latencies are - unfortunately most plugin makers aren’t so helpful. As I understand thin...

Re: New Apple machine with 8th Gen i7 (Mac mini) running badly

2018/19 Macs having problems with USB audio is a known issue - there are several threads about it on RME’s forums.

It seems Apple dropped the ball, but Mojave 10.14.4 seems to fix the problems.

Re: Ableton and Macbook Pro

Try this - it massively reduced the load on the system on my mid 2014 spec MBP. Live's default settings seem to hit the gpu very hard. I still get some fan noise at low audio buffer settings, but that's not surprising as Intel's power gadget shows they push the cpu into turbo mode no matter what the...

Re: Song sounds perfect in ableton but exported it sounds bad ):

Psychoacoustics can throw all kinds of weird tricks at us. It’s amazing how much difference a pretty small change in volume can make our brains think the louder version of a track sounds “better” than the quieter one. A trick used by less than scrupulous hi-fi/audio visual tech sales people is to de...

Re: Recently recorded tracks not lining up in Logic X

There’s no instant solution to the timing issue. Logic has the ability to alter the timing of audio. It’s called “flextime” and instructions for using it are in the Logic manual under the heading “Edit the timing of audio”. It works quite well, though it can be a slow and fiddly process. Like any ti...

Re: Looper Sync Problem (Ongoing Issue)

30+ms of input latency @256samples is HUGE. The image for a 32 sample buffer is barely any less than that, 25.5ms. I don’t use UAD stuff so can’t really comment on how to set it up, but for some reason at 32 samples the input latency Live reports is up to around ten times what it should be for the ...

Re: Multiple hardware synths

Connect both synths to Live and enable them in MIDI in/out preferences. Create a MIDI track in Live. Set the MIDI track input to the synth with a keyboard. Set the track monitoring options to “in” so the synth reacts as you play. Set the track output to the other synth and whichever MIDI channel the...

Re: Mac for Abelton

A quad (or more) core i7 or i9 is going to be a lot better than an i5 or dual-core i7. I doubt lack of RAM is going to be causing crashes - but you can of course check how much RAM and cpu is being used in activity monitor. I used PC DAWs for nearly 20 years and have also used Macs for years. Window...

Re: latency is getting bigger and smaller

It might be worth trying disconnecting the Behringer interface, launching a new project with no plugins in it and seeing what happens if you use the Mac’s on-board sound. If latency is stable using that then the problem would seem to be the Behringer (or its driver). If latency using the Mac sound c...

Once in a while, when I get sufficiently irritated at searching multiple Waves shells for a plugin, I restore sanity by uninstalling all my Waves stuff then reinstalling it.

Re: Ableton Live 10 Suite: Midi Keyboard and Latency

For whatever reason I lost track of this thread. My fault. Now, I have done an exact duplicate of the Live settings in the post that started this discussion. New project, only thing loaded in it being Keyzone Classic. Live reports that plugin has zero "built in" latency for what that's worth. Comput...

Re: Ableton problems sending program change on ch 11, 13

I've just run a test sending bank and program changes from Live 10.0.6 on all 16 channels to external hardware and a vst synth and everything seems to be working as expected. MIDI CCs seem fine on all channels as well. I vaguely remember Live 8 seemed to have problems with MSB/LSB and 14 bit MIDI bu...
