Re: CPU Performance nightmare [NOT SOLVED]

Sounds to me a GPU issue, do you have a graphics card in laptop or just the built in Intel one on the CPU, drivers for it upto date? On my laptop I can right click on ableton icon, and chose run with graphics processor. How did I not see this? Let me try! Thanks for the heads-up!!! UPDATE : Did not...

Re: CPU Performance nightmare [NOT SOLVED]

So that was short lived..... Issue still persists. So this morning I added a VST to my master channel (REFERENCE plugin). Everything plays well until I open the VST up and my CPU usage shoots up from 40% to over 100 and everything drops out!!!!! There is NO WAY a VST can use this much. As soon as I ...

Re: CPU Performance nightmare

Hey guys, Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I've learned a lot from all this. Issue has been SOLVED! I've tried a few of the mentioned suggestions but none solved my issue. In the end, my PAD was just to heavy for the CPU. I threw everything I had (including the kitchen sink) at my CPU! DISCO...

If you’ve not already done so, downloading and running latencymon.exe might give some clues to any problems.

Look at your power options, CPU should always be set at 100% high performance..

Useful article there too.
That option I set as soon as I install windows...

Have you disabled throttling in the BIOS. This makes that the cpu does not run full power all the time.......
I've just been in my BIOS and there is nothing about CPU throttling.

Impossible to say without more info. Sound card? Background processes? I assume Windows. Version?
Nothing running in the background. Sound card is RME Babyface (never had issues on tower PC) Latest Windows 10 Pro version

Here is a video : https://www.dropbox.com/s/jm8nldmgthxoz ... 6.mp4?dl=0

I've tweaked every possible windows feature that would save CPU. I even reinstalled windows a week ago with almost no other software on. Internet is also disconnected while producing

CPU Performance nightmare [NOT SOLVED]

Hi, So when I start Ableton and load my project, it plays fine, round about 45% CPU usage. As soon as I open a 3rd party VST that has a visual feedback like a moving waveform or running timeline (anything that uses graphics), my CPU spikes to 130% and all I hear is "k-k-k-k-k-k". As soon as I close ...

Overlapping audio recordings

Hi, So to save CPU I've reverted to recording synths to audio. How do I overlap clips in a track so that the tail of the first one still plays when the second one starts. I know In Cakewalk you could create 'lanes' within a track for MIDI and audio. Help appreciated... PS: Is it possible to render/f...

Re: Re-enable Automation confusion

Hi, Are you talking about the one with the arrow pointing left? If you have automation set that uses the MODWHEEL in a VST for instance and you turn the physical MODWHEEL on your controller, the automation goes into a type of pause mode. You'll have to enable it each time when you fiddle with the bu...

Re: Memory / CPU Issues?

Hi, Thanks for the in-depth explanation. I use the M-Audio Babyface (not the latest Pro) with ASIO drivers. My buffer is 1024 samples. I need to learn how to freeze tracks. Hace never done this in Ableton... One thing I find weird is that everything will be playing well and then as soon as I open a ...

Re: Memory / CPU Issues?

Any way I can monitor what used CPU?

Windows' RESOURCE MONITOR does't show the SPIKE in CPU. Only in Ableton when It cuts out

Memory / CPU Issues?

Hi, So when I load up my project, all runs perfectly fine and my CPU hovers around 50-65%. Then about an hour into producing, my CPU starts going crazy around 130% and it drops out so badly, I cant here a single sound. To solve this, I save and exit Ableton and load up again and then everything is g...

Re: Layered synths - Multi vs. Single track setup

I think I'm going to go back to layering my synths in the racks instead of different tracks. I had ZERO noticeable CPU drop when splitting the layers over different tracks. The hassle that comes with it is not worth it...
