Re: Surround Sound Plug-in for Ableton Live

Well, it would be nice to be able to adjust the 'speaker' position - as there are different 5.1 layouts (best also support for 6.1) .... with the fx - doppler etc., please make the optional (possibility to turn them on/off or maybe to mix them in like wet/dry in %) - they are great for fx sounds but...

Re: Same trigger different sample?

The latin percussion kits are programmed like that ... so if you have a chance to check them out, you will see the principle.

They map the samples to 4 adjustant keys within a single key trigger drum rack and use a MIDI fx to cycle through them. very straight forward.

hope that helps
I want a max 4 live upgrade that allows me to affect the parameters of a device inside a rack - like the decay on a hat sound within a drum rack, frinstance.
Well, after Max4Live I want that as well ... bummer that this is not possible ....

6. For the sake of completeness, a guitar amp plugin - why not license basic one from Line 6, and integrate into Ableton.

Well, as they already have stuff from chocolate audio why not go in the direction of overloud for guitar stuff and reverb ...

Re: About to Pull trigger on Mac laptop and upgrade from 5.2

Well, first let me say that I am a MacUser and do not really consider other options .... But, if you get an apple portable computer I would go with the 13" as long as apple does not offer reasonable displays (non-glossy) and cardbus slots on the 15". Put it like you want - the glossy are sh** no mat...

Re: will ableton run completely off an external harddrive?

I am doing this on a Mac here - live is on an external Snow Leopard partition which is a test partition. (thou the library itself is actually on the internal HD [sata] of the MacBook) As long as you can install windows on a USB extern drive (which you can AFAIK) there should not be a problem. Most l...

Re: Any 3-rd party sidechain compressors for Live?

Well, with AU all compressor plugins that support side-chain input (Voxengo Crunchessor, WaveArts TrackPlug, iZotope Alloy, divers PSP, etc.) work. for VST, I am not that sure ... I think WaveArts TrackPlug, Voxengo Crunchessor work ... get a demo and check it out .... (The plugin must support side-...

Re: More instruments in the live standard package

Well, for be the simple fact that Logic does not support 32bit audio file import and export painlessly, as well as that logic instruments are only useable within Logic but I can use Live instruments with every rewire host (which allows sample accurate sync) is very important in comparing the two. Ov...

Re: Midi Warping
um, you can stretch midi selections in ableton using stretch notes command.
But that is a painful workflow if you ever worked with Cubase, Logic or DP stretched and squeezed the time around MIDI events. With that workflow it is more convenient and faster to export MIDI, load ...

Re: Midi Warping

I am asking for that feature since Live 4 public beta .... There are thousands of useful things one can do with that. Funnily, about every other DAW is better in this regard by now (Cubase has flex editing of timeline since SX3, Digital Performer has that since decades, Logic has flex timeline since...

Re: More instruments in the live standard package
Ofcourse we know the difference between Sampler and a S series akai. A moot point when you consider that Logic basically costs £200 less than Suite and comes with a multisampler of the highest order. Re: More instruments in the live standard package

Well, if you do not see the difference between Ableton sampler and an Akai S1100 I think you are really better off with the Akai for 50€ .... I think there is no library outside that can compete with VSL and I think that Ableton should be the last company to be interested in that. Get the suite - fo...

Re: Is Max a low-level programming language

funny discussion .... If someone asks me I always say that Max is a visual programming environment. In the classical def of OOP Max is not object oriented, but the nodes have states, attributes (at least the jitter objects) and method calls so to say. Also you can easily use Java in Max, which is OO...
