pitch control using Live Pitch plugin

Use the Live Pitch plugin. It will convert incoming midi notes - and as each drum sound is assigned to a particular note, altering the note will trigger different drums. It will not alter the pitch of the drums themselves. So when you create your midi clips it doesnt really matter what notes you use...

thanks ...

Good idea machinate - thanks. So is it not possible to turn off quantise when recording midi clips ?- I've just tried recording some patterns - but they are well and truly stuck to the grid. I know you can change the grid resolution down to 1/128 - and move the beats around manually. Is it possible ...

Creating realistic drum patterns.

How do you use Live to create interesting / realistic drum patterns ? I have developed a way that seems to work pretty well - Use Battery or similar - Create 7 midi tracks that output to Battery. Label the tracks - kick , snare, hats and then pattern 1, 2 ,3 ,4 Each track has the following plugins -...

absolute / relative ?

Thanks for the reply Rx. I see you have a microkontol so I guess it must work for you. I don't have a problem making the controls work in Live ... ( but I do have to choose Absolute in the options box - for both the sliders and the rotary encoders.) I just have a problem switching between scenes bec...

don't behave like rotary encoders

I read on the os x audio forum that even though the microkontrol has rotary encoders - they behave like conventional pots. I find it hard to see what advantage is gained by this ....

Korg MicroKontrol ... warning to prospective purchasers.

Any microkontrol users out there ? ( or any prospective purchasers ) I bought the microkontol because certain design features seemed very clever - build quality is very good. I particularly liked the idea that there are eight little lcd displays which indicate the parameters assigned to the 8 rotary...

render to disk / resampling - same quality ?

If you resample in the session view - is the resultant file the same quality as rendering to disk in the arrangement view - presuming both are set at 24 bit / 44.1 khz. ?

"stupid politics " ?

Firstly - I totally agree with broadening out the debate in these forums to discuss important issues that affect our lives (anyway - some of the topics recently have been less than inspiring ) - be they cultural, social, political, technological - whatever. If you are not interested - don't read tho...

Automation in session/ arranger - I'm confused.

I raised the following issue in the tips and tricks section - but under another heading. So I thought I'd try it here to see if there is any more response. I was having problems working on songs after they had been transferred from the session to arrange view, and even though I've recently realised ...

Thanks

Thanks lobster ... good tip. I think I know where I might have been going wrong with my previous attempts to use both the session and arranger view. I feel a bit foolish really ( see below )- never mind. I think , as I said before , I was having problems with automation. I remember recording a reall...

Mute clips in arranger - a work around.

One thing I miss in Live is the ability to mute clips when trying different mixes. This tip only really works if you are if you are using relatively few tracks in the arrange view. I've just been using it for audio clips but I guess you could use it for midi clips as well. Tip 1: Create a couple of ...

Automating bus effects ?

Does anyone know if it is possible to automate bus effects in the session view ? I've just realised that you can automate them by drawing curves in the arrange view ( even if you haven't got any sound clips in the arrange view ) ... but I just wondered if you could use clip envelopes in some way in ...

Actually ... 637 more points are needed ... I think the bargain hunting feeding frenzy is distorting your perception of reality a little. I signed up for the effects bundle after playing with the demos . I was REALLY impressed by the ergonmics and design of the plugins , and the automation and scope...
