Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

Sorry SuburbanThug, but you lost the one-upmanship contest here the moment you resorted to posting meme generator pics.

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

One thing I need practice with is, one hand on Maschine, another on keys/push :P unfortunately, that leaves very little room for tweaking Not sure why you'd want to do all that at the same time. Those are all separate tasks for me. I can be focused on playing the pads, then switch over to keys, and...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

SubrbanThug, it seems like you do understand the concept that Maschine consists of the software on the computer that is controlled by a hardware controller that's fully integrated with the software. You do realize that the Maschine controller itself has MIDI in/out ports, right? Those MIDI ports are...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

You absolutely are limited to playing only 16 notes at a time on Maschine. Sure, you can plug a keyboard into it and plug the Maschine into the computer and play away but then you are playing a keyboard, not Maschine. Spare us the semantic pedantry, will ya? Yes, you can plug a keyboard into...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

As far as drums are concerned, yes. Maschine is an instrument. Like a drum set. As far as melodic content goes I'd be hard pressed to find any useful instrument that only allows you to play 16 notes at a time. Just going off the top of my head here. You're not at all limited to just 16 notes at a t...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

Push is an instrument. It's layout and approach is unique. What makes something an instrument is all about the actual experience of playing it and being immersed within that experience. As a whole, the experience of using Maschine is the closest thing in a software environment to playing a hardware...

Re: What would you like to see in Push in the future?

holding down shift + using the knob for a control with higher resolution Yup. Yet another feature already found on Maschine... And another thing that sets apart Maschine's controller is that it actually has higher-than-MIDI resolution for its encoders compared to Push's knobs which are limited to o...

Re: How to make custom categories in Browser's Drum Hits!!

There should even be a mirror of the browser activity in L9 on your computer. Obviously! Maschine had that in version 1.0! Like all of you, i'm quite shocked that this wasn't worked out well in advance of release. I remember reading in the "Push: Questions and Answers" forum thread by a beta tester...

Re: Abes please implement Drum Hits subfolders based on source!!

this would be very cool, how could you not implement this? lemme guess maschine does this right out of the box? how hard would it be to get push to load your 3rd party vsts from the browser? lemme guess maschin does this also Yup. There are some very odd limitations on Push for sure. I think Push d...

Re: Thoughts on Push by those who have it now?

It is annoying the relentless advertising by Maschine Zombies who spam thread after thread with Maschine propaganda. Maschine is the second coming, Maschine is perfect, Maschine is omniscient, Machine tutorials, Maschine videos, Maschine, Maschine, Maschine... showing up in thread after thread, eve...

Re: Who is actually happy with the direction Ableton is going?

Having 16 pads puts it in the sampling/drum machine category rather than a traditional sequencer workstation which would have a keyboard since it is geared towards composing rather than arranging small groups of samples. Of course you can work around that on a Maschine, pawing through octaves, but ...

Re: Thoughts on Push by those who have it now?

I don't understand why they couldn't just have it all work out of the box with multiple levels of tags (even easily adding your own custom tags) like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ys8bsWEWt0A This is a thread about Push... Please stop posting your Maschine advertising in thread after thread...

Re: Who is actually happy with the direction Ableton is going?

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the Push vs. Maschine sentiment. There is some overlap between the two but actually a lot less than pretty much any other two controllers set side by side. Maschine is geared towards sampling and drum programming. Push is geared towards song writing, c...

Re: Thoughts on Push by those who have it now?

Is that to say that there is no system for tagging and adding your own organisational system for your custom sounds? You have to use the Ableton sound categories. I just don't do things that way. I never think "Oh, I need a bass, let me audition the hundreds of bass sounds." I usually think of the ...
