Re: The big wide world of modular audio synthesis environments

Vocoder seems to be complicated to do. Way above my head :) I think I read somewhere it was done with bandpass filters in cascades or so. I guess that's probably one way of doing it. When Max4live comes out, it will get it anyway even if I don't plan on really learning it (gotta update to live 8 fir...

Re: The big wide world of modular audio synthesis environments

The math/logic was meant has a general comment for all 3 softwares. You can't really save your patches in the max demo (I think?) so you won't really get to work it out. That's why I mentioned pd. There's enough stuff in it to get you going pretty good. What's cool about max is that it seems to be m...

Re: The big wide world of modular audio synthesis environments

Start with PD, it's free and if it keeps you interested, go for max (pd is similar to max, do a search on Miller Puckette). Personally I prefer reaktor cuz of the whole bunch of available patches and seems to be more efficient for similar tasks but don't take my word for it. :) I didn't do a side by...

nice analogy! Core cells in reaktor allow you to build your own filters, oscillators from scratch.

Re: OT: Martial Arts - My new Keep Fit

I like the southern chinese martial arts. Lots of hand work, lower kicks and strong foundation. Northern styles are more spectacular to look with flying kicks like in changquan. You have to be in really good shape to do that stuff. I practiced Shotokan Karate, for a while, haven't kept up with it si...

Re: OT: Martial Arts - My new Keep Fit

The problem with boxing is that if you do a lot of it and get on the ring, it's the brain damage that comes with it. One of my cousin stopped after 4 year for that. He saw one of his friend starting to lose it a bit. Has for what somebody said about MMA, it's true in a way. Theses places form you to...

Re: OT: Martial Arts - My new Keep Fit

Yup, I did pentjak silat and hung gar kung-fu a long time ago. I was thinking of brazilian ju-jitsu or muay thai recently but I'm not sure yet.

Martial arts are very good for the mind and the body.

Re: Ok so sampler/simpler does not have timestretching...

It's all true and I'm very much with you on this one. Definitely love to see some time-streching or granular thing on simpler, sampler. It's just a workaround and you can got some very interesting results with that. Add racks and you can build a much more complex instrument. The sampler has other sh...

Re: Ok so sampler/simpler does not have timestretching...

You can definitely simulate time stretching with sampler like Kodoma said. Just set a short loop at the beginning of the sample (enable loop forward and link, crossfade to smooth it out). Lfo 2: lfo destination A: loop start set to 100 percent. Use sawtooth up and the rate controls the speed. Must b...
