Re: macOS 10.14.6 Serious CPU issues / Background Processes

your aggregate device sounds like a nightmare to me.

regarding background processes on a Mac, this guide is a great place to start:

Re: Is it 36 years too late to start music production ?

When you are younger you tend to learn much quicker and take things in as your brain develops and craves input. BUt as you get older it can be more difficult to really understand things so that will be a bit of a hinderance. i disagree with that bit. it depends on your perspective. for example, i h...

Re: Intel turbo boost

recording live instruments doesn't require much processing power. it's complex virtual instruments and effects that are the big CPU users.

with the Turbo Boost, just bear in mind that the boost only applies to a single core, and that Live spreads tracks out across the cores.

Re: automating the repitching of many pieces of audio - using automator, a script, ableton or something else?

what operating system do you use? some batch editors will do what you want without all the jumping through flaming hoops (don't get me wrong, hoop jumping can be fun and educational). for example, on MacOS Myriad can do what you want out of the box... edit: it looks like Aurchitect (the myriad devel...

Re: Buying laptop for live 10 - questions about required specs (CPU, clock speed, etc) and determining real-time perform

as your post suggests, there are no simple answers. some comments though: - you cannot tell from component specs alone whether a system will exhibit good real-time behaviour, here you need to mostly rely on the empirical experience of others - the amount of CPU power and RAM you need depend on what ...

it's ironic that your tagline is: "You are what you think you are". you seem to take this simple statement literally.

in social interactions, what other people think we are is also important, regardless of who you think you are...

Re: my audio sometimes cuts out and then makes a very loud sound

when it happens @ 54 minutes in to your video, Live has even recorded the noise burst, so it's very likely to be an audio interface (hardware or driver) problem. another possibility is something funky going on with your streaming setup, but it's impossible to say without any information about your s...

Re: Metronome Monitoring

hi there, there's two main options to consider: if you don't need stereo output to your main sound system, you can use a single stereo pair for monitoring, and route all your performance audio to one side of a stereo pair, and the metronome to the other. if you do want a stereo signal to your sound ...

Re: recording a gig into Live

you can definitely set up routings to do everything on one machine. however, i recommend using a second computer for recording, for two main reasons. firstly, separating things makes the whole setup more robust. you have one computer doing the live processing, and once it's set up and good to go, yo...

Re: Mixing under a slanted ceiling?

i'm finding it hard to visualise your space from your description (a diagram would help)... is the ceiling one continuous slant or an upside-down vee, and what are the dimensions? in odd shaped rooms mode calculators don't work so well, so i personally i would set my monitoring up in alternative loc...

Re: Cutting the click from a looped sample

to understand why having zero crossings at the start and end of a looped sample isn't necessarily going to prevent an audible click, it might help to know why the click is audible in the first place. to convert the audio signal to sound pressure waves that your ears can detect, the transducers in yo...

Re: Replacement for Behringer BCR2000

i would seek and purge all traces of the BCR2000 from your device manager and registry and try again. you could also set up a fresh install of Windows 10 and try the BCR2000 with that. that way you will know if it is a fatal problem (which based on others' experience it isn't), or something messed u...
