hey topey, nobody here is trying to give you a hard time for no reason... i think because you are getting a bit defensive you aren't really listening to what everyone is trying to tell you... no one is saying you can't play music, or record it and mix in in Live... if fact, it's not so hard to do so...

i'm sorry topey, but what you are wanting really does not make any sense! i mean, i understand what you are asking, it's just that i don't think you really understand how audio and loudness works... i know you think you do, but from what you keep saying, it's obvious that you don't really... i don't...

i'm sorry, but this really is getting silly! so you agree that the tracks you are creating in Live are not as loud as the commercial tracks in other applications, but you want Live to somehow put out more signal to make it louder? like you want a MASTER master fader?????? this really makes no sense!

ah yep! time to eat those words! umm, well i just did a proper quick check of this whole loudness disparity bizo, and i have to say that actually there is no inherent difference in the signal gain between Live and iTunes... it's not that i was expecting a difference, but the whole Ultralite/Live/iTu...

hey, i've had this issue too... (MacBook Pro, 10.4.11, MOTU Ultralite) never bothered to find out why, i've just kept my iTunes fader down... but now there are two growing threads on this i'll do some proper tests tomorrow... haha, i might end up eating my words, but like topey says it's a big diffe...

i've never really bothered to look into it before, and simply keep my iTunes fader down...

but this thread has inspired me! i'll do some proper tests tomorrow and see if i can track down the weirdness...

it's a remake of a classic example of a phenomenon known as "inattentional blindness" in psychology/perception... for all the grumpy old girls and boys who haven't run into the McGurk Effect yet, check this out: http://www.media.uio.no/personer/arntm/McGurk_english.html btw, it's most effective (and...

hey i wondered about this when i first started using Live 6 with my CME UF80... i also expected bank switching to work like a Mackie Control would on tracks/channels but unfortunately it seems that it only works on devices... other users and Ableton support confirmed this... it is a serious limitati...

there is also the possibility that you are experiencing the processor throttling issue... this is more or less to do with the cpu frequency throttling being setup a bit too soft, so the cpu speeds don't step up and down smoothly enough for apps that have critical timing issues (like audio of course)...

hi try using the Activity Monitor (it's in the Utilities folder) to see how much cpu the various processes are using (also handy to see memory usage, disk activity and other things)... note that 'inactive' (blue colour) system memory is potentially free, but the system won't use it unless the absolu...

yeah, i was hoping i'd found what i was looking for when i saw those bank controls too, unfortunately as far as i can tell they seem to only shift the focus of the main encoder knobs (the ones at the top of the userconfiguration.txt file) between banks of controls in instruments and midi/audio effec...

Live 6 automatically remaps the encoders between devices, why have an 8 track mixer limitation???

hopefully this will be fixed in Live 7...
