Bitstream 3x is pretty bulletproof. 32 knobs, 8 sliders, x-fader - it's a bit dinky but it works ribbon controller -love it X-Y joystick - not the best feature, don't use it myself, don't like the feel. Not too expensive either i haven't actually used one of these, but i think CME owns it now? i'm ...

fishmonkey: What have you learned about potentially getting the xgaming kits to control Live? It wasn't clear from their site exactly what type of data these controllers can output other than keystrokes. And that said PC only, I believe. It would be nice to build a nice big button grid with those "...

ha ha, i've still got an old Zoom geetar effects unit that has a dodgy fader from a jamming beer spill 10 years ago... unfortunately i didn't bother to do anything about it until days later, and it was too late! i'd recommend lots of contact cleaner spray too; also in my experience it's good to use ...

hey people thanks for all the input... QLab fuckin rocks! Difficult choice now between using that or Live... Big plus with QLab is being able to set up a sequence of cues that only require you to hit a "GO" button to navigate a whole show, plus video support too (also i just discovered those Matrox ...

Bulletproof MIDI controller for Live???

hey all sometimes i run sound and video for theatre shows, and i've finally decided to take the plunge and run the prerecorded sound off my MacBook Pro running Live 7 (the current show drives me crazy with audio tracks interleaved between two CD players and some really nasty cues, not to mention 2 D...

hey dregas

i don't like most of the whacky stretched loop stuff, mostly because it isn't done very well (track "sicks" literally makes me feel sick, it's like Portishead in a washing machine)...

overall though, you've got a cool funky vibe going on...

yeah, you really cannot know without trying them out... also, it's much much better if you can try it out with your gear and singers; especially with your mic preamps in the space you will be recording in... i can't afford one at the moment, but i am intrigued by the possibilities of the NT2000 with...

aahhh, ya gotta love these scholarly skirmishes... in the end it's pretty clear that the powers that be and wanna be always seek to control and "refine" thinking and ideas... we are surrounded by it 24/7... to me it comes down to being open and checking out as much stuff as possible, and finding out...

wow, that was fuckin great! it's so cool when a full-on scientist bridges the chasm with spirit... reminds me of Barbara Brennan, a former NASA scientist who does all that energy healing stuff... btw, i think the essence of her talk is about getting perspective on our own lives, by massively expandi...

i occasionally use paypal if i'm buying through someone or a site that i don't really know and trust, and i don't want to give them to have my credit card details... also in some situations, paypal might be a bit safer than doing a direct bank transaction, and for some sellers, paypal is a handy way...

hi again topey! let me put it this way: yes, you could use a software mixer to match the volumes between your applications (for example, some RME sound cards come with a program called TotalMix)... but to achieve this you would have to set the mixer to LOWER the output of all the other applications ...

hey topey, nobody here is trying to give you a hard time for no reason... i think because you are getting a bit defensive you aren't really listening to what everyone is trying to tell you... no one is saying you can't play music, or record it and mix in in Live... if fact, it's not so hard to do so...

i'm sorry topey, but what you are wanting really does not make any sense! i mean, i understand what you are asking, it's just that i don't think you really understand how audio and loudness works... i know you think you do, but from what you keep saying, it's obvious that you don't really... i don't...
