Re: Track dev/ice chain

Volumes of individual effects change or volume of the entire rack? What effects do you have in there and how are you reordering them? Depending on what you have in there, order can affect volume. For example, a Utility gain before a Compressor will produce different volume than vice versa.

Re: MAJOR sync issues with plug-ins in Live 8!

Hah! What do you know... I see that option now. I tend to access all the functions in that menu via key shortcuts, I never really bothered to click there! Must be a Live 8 feature that wasn't there in 7? Couple of things come to mind: 1) That setting really ought to be accessible in the Preferences ...

Re: MAJOR sync issues with plug-ins in Live 8!

Here's a video of what's happening:

http://youtu.be/1ZmIYrGnz6A?hd=1

- Built-in audio, 2048 buffer
- Channel 1 printed onto 2 as audio for sync comparison
- Notice sync issue when changing plugin buffer size

Re: MAJOR sync issues with plug-ins in Live 8!

Hi H20, I've bypassed my external IO and running Built-in Audio. Sync issue still present. Perhaps I'll do a screencap vid to show what's going on. It's probably hard to believe but this isn't "user-error". I troubleshoot this system more than I actually write music these days, so I'm pretty confide...

Re: MAJOR sync issues with plug-ins in Live 8!

Hi Palmer, I'm unaware of a "latency compensation" checkbox in Live's preferences. Are you referring to the Driver Error Compensation slider in Preferences / Audio? My understanding of this setting is that it is intended for compensating latency when tracking, such that recorded tracks are automatic...

Re: MAJOR sync issues with plug-ins in Live 8!

Thanks, H20. Yes, on both systems I started with a blank session and an instance of Battery (3.2.3). Also tried other plugs to eliminate Battery as the source of the problem - same results with those. PC specs: - Win XP - Saffire PRO24 (MixControl 2.4) Mac specs: - 10.6.8 - Saffire PRO40 (had starte...

Re: MAJOR sync issues with plug-ins in Live 8!

Thanks, ToneDeft. Correct - I'm not referring to system latency when using external input. I also don't think this issue has to do with changing buffer sizes during a session. No matter what buffer settings I start with / change to, plugins are always offset by the plug-in audio buffer amount (most ...

Re: MAJOR sync issues with plug-ins in Live 8!

Thanks for replies, gents. Interesting read on PDC but that's not what I'm experiencing. What I am experiencing is added latency at ANY plug-in buffer setting. The example above uses only a single plug-in, and no other Live devices or automation. So for example, let's assume I've set my main audio b...

Re: MAJOR sync issues with plug-ins in Live 8!

Bump! What the dilly gents? Can noone confirm / deny this? Am I completely wrong to assume that Live should not be introducing additional latency to plug-in processing if prefs are set to "same as audio buffer"? In effect this means that no plug-ins are ever in exact sync with Ableton timeline (even...

Re: MPD32 pads = MPK49 pads or LPD8 pads?

Also have a look at this for mod on increasing pad sensitivity on most pad controllers - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=175291&p=1368948&hi ... s#p1368948

Have succesfully done this on an MPD16 and a couple of NanoPads. night and day difference after the mod.

MAJOR sync issues with plug-ins in Live 8!

Perhaps I'm not understanding something, but Live's plug-in buffer setting "as audio buffer" appears to completely screw with plug-in sync. Here's a quick test: 1) Fire up Battery or any other drum sampler 2) Lay down a simple pattern 3) Flip Live's main audio buffer to 2048 or as high as yours will...

Re: Arpeggios and MIDI mappings

If you have not used Max 4 Live, then it may not be a simpler solution. If you do have some time to poke around, you may want to have a look at the Step Sequencer module (not exactly sure where it's located in the browser tree, not on my machine atm..) and editing that to suit your needs. I imagine ...

Re: Arpeggios and MIDI mappings

This would be really simple with a Max 4 Live device. I'm assuming you don't have M4L. One way to do sequential note triggering would be to use Clip View. First you will need to go into Live's Preferences // Record Warp Launch and enable "Select Next Scene On Launch". Then, put your samples/clips on...

Re: What's your practical memory ceiling in Live 8 (32bit)?

Aha.. so it works both ways, not just 32-to-64. Great to know. Looks like I'll be trying this out tonight, hopefully the Mac version's stable. Cheers fellas!
