Magic Sends Video Tutorial

Hey Yall, I just posted up a tutorial about how to use Magic Sends in Ableton. This will allow you to use effects in return tracks as if they were directly inline with any track in the set. This technique is similar to effects in DJ programs such as Traktor or dj64 and will save you CPU! Check out t...

Re: Tricks and techniques for creating tension in a track?

A few philosophical 1) Think about how long before the transition you want to start the buildup. Some techniques (harmonic suspensions such as 4th or a 5th) or polyrhythms (not really polyrhythm, where you create a rhythmic pattern that doesn't repeat on the 1) are better for longer term buildups. I...

Re: Blown Speaker effect?

Ha, I think you're right. For some reason I think I was thrown off because I normally think of side chaining as a feature to get the drums bass out of the way of the drums. I guess I need to rethink that. Thanks for the reply.

Blown Speaker effect?

Hello, I was listening to the new Flying Lotus album and I realized that one of the things that I like about his music is the blown speaker effect that he seems to have on some of his kicks. Does anyone know how to do this in Live? My guess is that it has to do with distorting and limiting, but my a...

Crash on Launch

Hey yall, I have Live 8.1.1 and the latest Max install and whenever I try to open an .als made with Live 8.1 and includes Effects made with the previous install of Max, everything goes to hell (crashes). I already tried re installing max and all that, no luck. I am attaching the Opening Log, as it h...

Re: Session View Count-in

Thanks a lot, yall. I am in the process of making the pedal board out of a modded keyboard brain, but in the interim I will use these fixes. Thank!

Session View Count-in

Hey Yall, I know that there is a way to enable a count in for arrangement view, but is such a thing possible in session view? When I am trying to loop something, it is very awkward to have use one hand to start recording right on the downbeat. Thanks.

Re: Max 5.1.1 is online

For those of you trying to go back to the release of 5.1 you will probably have uninstall and reinstall the Live pack to get the original content back. MaxforLiveContent.alp is in the support folder in your Max5 Application folder. Or you can install the Live 8.1.1 beta, and stick with Max 5.1.1 -A...

Re: All patches in M4L 5.1.1 update broken?

Deleted and reinstalled livepack, no change. Presets are still "broken." Maybe I didn't delete everything? What exactly does it mean to "uninstall" a livepack?

REALLY disappointed by this, a fine how-do-you-do for something I already had my trepidations about buying. Fools and their money I guess...

Re: Snow Leopard-ish bug with Live 7?

+1 for the problem, 7.0.16 and Snow Leopard. I was also stoked to play on a new machine...only to find that my warped tracks sound like TOTAL GARBAGE. I guess we just have to all shell out for the upgrade? That's pretty harsh.

Re: Korg nanoKontrol Myr - A midi remote script for Live 8

@ SexFace Sorry man. Just realised I'm not sure if the Logger will run with Live7 either, and if it does it creates the stderr.txt file in some pretty weird places, had to change the path in the Logger.py file as well. I'll try reversing the changes I made from what I can remember, but with no Live...

Re: Korg nanoKontrol Myr - A midi remote script for Live 8

Reply to GayScience's message to me on Soundcloud. The script I originally built was for live 7. Unfortunately it seems the changes I made to get it working in Live 8 stopped it working in Live 7 as well. I was pretty stupid in that I deleted the old version of the script and now only have the Live...

Re: Korg nanoKontrol Myr - A midi remote script for Live 8

Hey man, I am having the same problem getting Live to 'see' the script. How did you get it going? I have some othe...
