Re: Hard Disk Overload frustration

(P.S. I found the Scorpio Black wasn't still quite up to speed for some of the stuff I wanted to do, the XT went from totally unusable glitch fest to just about capable, depending on the firmware version, but as I say, what have you got on what drive, and what year is the macbook. Check lots of SSD ...

Re: Hard Disk Overload frustration

I had no end of problems with my Momentus XT. Where I fitted it from new took a long time to work out that it was the HDD and not general Mac/Live issue. What version of firmware is on it? That was the biggest cause. In the end it was in and out like a yo-yo when firmware updates came, and I used it...

Re: How to clean up Guitar hum

How good quality/old is the tube in it? New good quality tubes can sort hum. Then there's other general ideas too though such as move your guitar (i.e. pickups) further from the PC or anything with PSUs/Electromagnetic stuff in it. Standing up close to an amp with big transformers is a great way to ...

Re: Rick Snoman's: Dance Music Manual

I thought it was a great book. Didn't have much trouble reading it but explained things and what youre doing at a decent level compared with some other stuff I read that was a bit pointless and didn't explain much other than "setting this high makes this kinda sound", leaving me without much underst...

Re: Live 64-bit beta...

the Live 64-bit beta is "rock solid" No it isn't! I can still crash it incredibly easily by just adding a scene or track whilst it plays in any of my songs with lots of long complicated time signatures in it. That's with no non-Live plugins. Ableton agree and can repeat all my crashes and are looki...

Balls to it! I'm gonna install and see what happens. If it breaks it I'm gonna work on some acoustic guitar stuff!

Re: Akai APC 40 & Ableton

I thought you just needed any version of live after or including the last version of 7, Plugged in and it all worked automagically. Maybe that's just the mac though and PCs need drivers. :-/

Re: Moving stuff from arrange to session

It's more how to loop about 200 clips in their entirety without going into all 200 hundred of them individually and either setting the loop brace or right clicking and doing the "loop to... " whatever it was button. Mind you I didn;t follow the instructions right from the top so maybe they default t...

Re: External Instrument

By freezing it basically makes a recording of all the stuff in that track's current config. You can no longer modify it (except simple stuff like change volume) because it's just a big wav file. The main use is to save CPU power and possibly HDD random accesses as it's no longer running all those so...

Re: Ableton 64bit

Most likely when its ready  Ha,ha ok I shall get on with making some more noise :D Also I imagine when M4L and The Bridge have been updated to work with it too if it's gonna be a "proper" release. In the meantime you may as well join in picking holes in it unless you need M4L or the bridge...

Re: MOTU Ultralite - outputs in Live don't match the interface

Pretty much the same as my 828mk3. Or you can make Main Out 1/2 mirror output 1/2 then they both be 1/2. They all move arpund depending what settings you have in your MOTU audio setup applet. Live REALLY needs to support coreaudio port naming. Here's me another day swearing at Live for keeping veile...

Re: External Instrument

Yeah, "External Instrument" plugin just makes it handier basically. If my Novation is always connected to my in 5+6 of the sound card, needs a certain amount of audio gain, has a small latency, and is always on a certain MIDI channel/port I can just grab my Novation preset and dump it in. Done. Same...

Change the grid if it's snap to grid. You can do that by just zooming the grid. Or turn it off entirely?

Re: Importing into Live?

They've probably auto-warped.

Turn off warp long samples (or whatever it's called) in prefs. Or poke about with default warp things in there. Or just turn off warping on the clips once you dropped them in.
