Re: Best gear I've ever bought: Westone custom earplugs

You can diy a pair starting with this stuff:

http://www.utilitysafeguard.com/ear-plugs/CEP001-T/

and using a decent set of earbuds.

Maybe not as good as the $200 ones. But not $200.

Re: If I wanted to ease into the modular synth world...

Thanks, Tranzfuse. The forum is indeed hidden from view until you sign in. Thanks for sympathetic remarks re: the job - but it was a really stupid job anyway, so I'm looking forward to a change. Plus - I now have time to plan a modular set up. This thread has converted me away from the Dark Energy i...

Re: If I wanted to ease into the modular synth world...

I am right around where the o.p. is - I was set on the Dark Energy (or maybe the Oberheim S.E.M.). Except that I just got laid off work, and will need to get a job before taking the plunge. There was mention of an active seller's market at muffwiggler - I don't see a dedicated forum for sales. Is st...

Re: Microtonic, V-drums and Live

Yup, thanks again to Trommelmeister for the original tutorial. I am much further along in understanding the midi rack, as well as being able to use Attack the way I would like to.

Re: Microtonic, V-drums and Live

Trommelmeister: Thanks - I will spend the next couple of hours going through that, it looks very helpful. RobC: I'm interested in learning how to use Scale to do what I want, but I had some trouble getting it to work as you describe. I will look into it, and reply again. Thanks again for both replie...

Re: Microtonic, V-drums and Live

UncleAge: Thanks! I didn't even think to look that far into Microtonic. This solves the issue with Microtonic, thanks so much. Sadly, other VSTs are not as flexible: Waldorf Attack does not seem to offer this feature, so the problem still comes up (though not with Microtonic, I'm very glad to unders...

Microtonic, V-drums and Live

Hi: I got me a basic V-drum kit (the HD-1), and I'd like to use it to trigger sounds in any of several vst drum synths I have. This is tricky to do, especially with Microtonic. The V-drums have their midi notes hard coded, fairly close to and general midi drum standard. In Live, the note names are: ...

Re: 8.1.4 - king of stability?

I had almost no problems with any version of 8 - until 8.13. Now it won't open at all on Windows, and crashes with some frequency on my Mac.

I hope you're right about 8.14 - but that's what I had heard about 8.13.

Re: Launchpad & Snowleopard...

Worked for me. I was impressed to find an O.S. update that reduced the footprint, and improved the responsiveness of the the thing. It's usually the other way around, on both points.

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?

Live 8.1.3 introduces a new file format - documents saved with Live 8.1.3 or newer will not be able to be opened in older versions of Live.
Isn't a file format change the criterion for a major version update?

Maybe we're already using 9!

Re: cant stand kings of leon thread

I had never heard of them, when a friend played them in her car - and I asked who they were because I liked it. Good hard rock, with some imagination (e.g. a reggae beat in hard rock song called 'Ragout' or somesuch).

So there!

Re: MFB Kraftzwerg or doepfer dark energy

I was set on a Dark Energy myself, and then switched my sights to an Oberheim SEM. Unfortunately, I can't find a distributor in Canada for the latter, and duty fees are about 33%, adding significantly to the price. But check out the SEM if you're in the U.S. or Europe. I hadn't seen the Lancet previ...

Right first time, 3dot. I just hadn't thought of that. I must have hit the user 2 button while in midi map mode.

Thanks!
