Re: Yamaha DX-200...Anyone using one?

I have a warning: the rotary encoder on mine (used to switch patches) went wonky. I replaced it, and the replacement lasted only a couple of months before crapping out too. I can only do program changes via midi unless I replace it again, and I'm pretty bored with doing that now. Otherwise, a very c...

Re: A Bunch of Free Samples/Loops from Prime Loops :-)

Thanks for making so much stuff available, Mr Mowgli. One question: what format is the video in? It d/ls with no extension, so I'm guessing you might be mac users, and this is quicktime... EDIT: Oh, it was only the step sequencing video that's missing the .mp4 extension. I should not have cluttered ...

Re: OT: New MOTU (bus powered) FIREWIRE / USB2 Ultralite

The feature that sells me on the MOTU is the DC coupled outputs, which I want to drive analog gear with. Is there anyone who can recommend an alternative to the MOTU Ultralite at about the same price, which has this ability?

Re: Upgrade or not

I'm hoping the Abes might offer a Christmas special of some kind (I couldn't afford to take advantage of the $30 coupon earlier in the year).

Re: Joystick as midi controller?

Junxion:

There is a lite version, with an upgrade to the full one, which supports several protocals (e.g.OSC, MIDI). Very powerful.

Best finger drumming evar

I just stumbled on this:

which is, as I suggest in the title to this post, the best use of of a Nanopad I've ever enountered.

Any chance this would include buying it as part of Komplete?

Re: Novation releases Nocturn with keys..

I see this has transport controls. Does anyone know whether you can use the 'fast forward (>>)' key to move to the next scene in Live, with Novation controllers? I saw this done with the new Axioms, and it is damn handy.

Re: MY ULTRALITE JUST WENT NUCKING FUTS!

Put me down for rethinking an ultrlight purchase as well. I was interested in something with dc coupled outputs in order to drive analog gear. Any alternatives come to mind?

Re: Orchestral Instrument Collection vs East West Symphonic Orch

Neb, I have edited my question as I meant to ask about which instruments in particular are best (I am using both PC and Mac btw).

Re: Its official: I hate Sample Tank

I'm not getting what's so bad about ST. It works well for me and I like the basic synth engine, it's clean and musical. The effects are excellent. I agree the font size could be better, but what advantage does Kontakt have over ST with regard to number of instances / channels? I never have a need to...

Re: Orchestral Instrument Collection vs East West Symphonic Orch

[Edited for specificity:]

Can you folks comment on how those two (OIC and EWSO) compare to Sampletank and Kontakt? I took advantage of deals on both of those this year. I am wondering what instruments might be the strongest in ST and Kontak vs the other two.

Re: 25-key Midi controller/keyboard advice

"I can use [the Xiosynth] as a bus powered 2x2 interface."

As I understand it, the Xio has two separate mono inputs, one XLR and one 1/4". There is no stereo input - is this correct? Using a single XLR and a single 1/4" jack seems a very clunky way to record stereo. Is there another way on the Xio?
