Re: selfmade live visuals - which programs are out there?
Resolume is the best at the moment, Arkaos is usable, vvvv - is more for fixed installations then live and anyway unreliable, good for nerds with too much time and nothing better to do. Ignore suggestion about Flash, obsolete and was never really good for live visuals due to extreme high CPU. It is ...

Re: Ableton live on MacBook Pro
That is why I wrote, I honestly hate this MBP not just every day, every hour but every time I pick it up. Few inches difference does not matter? If it is someones girlfriend who said that, have no illusion - she lied! If there is anyone (not too far from Frankfurt) interested in swap - 15` MBP late ...

Re: Ableton live on MacBook Pro
It is true what others say about quad, I love the power, more screen real estate but I used to have with my 13`MBP with me almost at all times. After taking 15`with few times never do it except for gigs, or if I really must. I hate the bulkiness, it is almost like a desktop, pain to use in a car, to...

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
this seems like the right place to ask - has anybody gone from (or is using both) a 2011 i7 Macbook Pro to a current Macbook Air? It looks like about a 10% difference in the tests here, but I'm wondering if that works out to mean actual lags/glitches, or just that the fan turns on more often, or wh...

Re: Bus powered midi/audio interface for new MBP
You wont regret stretching a bit, getting RME, which is the only one that has all the features you looking for. As bonus you get the highest reliability and lowest latency, the separate, direct guitar input.

Re: Bus powered midi/audio interface for new MBP
Wow. And yet they claim to support condensers  And they can technically claim that, I guess, as long as you're tied to mains power. :| All those 4 interfaces support condensers, just that they need external power except Babyface. I tested them with same computer, Live test and other sets and ...

Re: Bus powered midi/audio interface for new MBP
That said I've had an Apogee ONE (previous model, and doesn't do MIDI) and a RME Babyface (does MIDI, but pricey) connected to my 2012's USB ports and they operated properly. USB provides less power than FW. Unfortunately the new tendency/idiocy of companies like Apogee, Focusrite, Echo is to add "...

Re: Opinions on MIDI keyboards
@rikhyray: thanks for the warning about StudioLogic! It is weird, most of those exquisite keyboard brands use Fatar keys, yet the original manufacturer never managed to get it right, since few years Fatar and Studiologic are "separate" companies, I guess not to ruin well earned high reputation of F...

Re: Opinions on MIDI keyboards
I'm thinking as much as I would love weighted keys it may not be the best for playing basslines and synth sounds. I purchased the CME 88 for practising keyboard skills and it worked great for that, getting the right muscles etc. quickly could feel the difference compared to doing the same on synth ...

Re: Audio Interface Question #5985693485
NI interfaces are OK - 2DJ will do the job @ minimum cost. If you want quality&reliability, get RME babyface, bit cheaper , very good new Echo 2 USB, Duet is fine too. The highest value for money is earlier recommended TC Desktop - same quality as bigger TC units, absolutely usable for DJing- it is ...

Re: iPad
There are free and paid remotes for nearly everything, including netflix. The basic functions are usually included in "light" versions the paid ones would mostly let me do things I do not intend to.

Re: Opinions on MIDI keyboards
So basically something that feels like a piano but is just a MIDI controller. I have looked at some Casio keyboards with real piano sampling such as the PX330 and have played a few and they feel really good but at $800+ and the fact I have plenty of nice piano library's the cost would be wasted to ...

Re: Novation SL MkI vs II
If nothing else it feels like you can be a lot more precise and you don't have to worry about your finger sliding off the parameter you want to adjust and moving to one you don't. Unfortunately the accuracy of the Novation "hardware" is not any better, faders too short, knobs - physically and elect...

Re: Novation SL MkI vs II
MK II is much better - dedicated Automap buttons, backlights but I missed 1 octave (replaced 37 SL with 25 MKII) and the right display. If they dropped left display it wouldnt bother me much but mixer faders having displays 1 foot to the left make the mixer nearly useless. After having Mininova for ...
