actually I'm glad you're posting this ... a few days ago I tried the Reaktor 5 demo on my iBook G4 800MHz and was shocked to see the CPU idling at 80% with only Carbon2 opened and not playing a single note. It definitely looks like a major CPU hog ...

yeah, the Mackie is a nice package, if the price only would come down a few hundreds. The Behringer DDX3216 is a digital mixer with 17 motorfaders, 4 FX units, eq + dynamics on every channel, 8 mic pres and optional 32 channel ADAT i/o for 580 EUR. Compared to this, 965EUR for the Mackie Control is ...

goddamnit! stop tempting me with these low prices :? I've looked into a us-2400, the Mackie Control and the Behringer DDX3216. The control surfaces seemed way overpriced and the Behrigner very tempting but I wanted to mix in the box so I avoided all of them. Now the us-2400 seems attractive again. T...

is this a musiciansfriend special or a real price drop? Thomann still has the old price. Got any news/rumors about forthcoming controllers for NAMM/Musikmesse?

radeon, sorry, but I don't see how this could be the case. There are enough cross platform thread libs that they could use. Even rolling your own isn't that much of a challenge. I guess the main task is changing the audio engine so that it supports multithreading at all.

Rewire: make it a first class citizen, please!

dear Abletons, pleasepleaseplease spend a little time in perfecting rewire support: create an instrument that functions as a wrapper for rewire slaves. That way we will be able to reduce track count in songs that use rewire, easily freze these tracks without having to manually bounce stuff and if th...

ok, I just downloaded and tried the Guitar Rig 2 Demo and can confirm that theres a problem with the AU version. Sound is chopped and completely fsckd up. The VST version seemed to run fine in Live 5.0.3 on my iBook/Traveler with buffer sizes down to roughly 500 samples. I also tried guitar rig stan...

sorry, no, I use my J-Station or my PSA-1 to record guitar, I don't quite trust the latency issues when it comes to software amps, but never tried them really.

iBook G4 800MHz 640MB , Mac OS X 10.4.3, Live 5.0.3, buffer size 200 samples upwards.
I've also done multitrack recordings on this machine through my Motu Traveler and recorded my guitar through a chain of Live effects. No stellar performance but worked flawlessly so far.
